I have a friend who is selling them at $20 a pop and I never owned one before, but
Is this a good radar detector?

you get what you pay for....i just got my passport 8500 for 250 and it saved me from getting two tickets on a 3 hour drive....worth the price

The 8500 is a great detector...and when compared to the valentine
( both guys used to work for the same company...imagine that)..its so close.

the cobra is ok...if you want the protection of the best...then get the BEST
I have used cobra products before and have not gotten tickets by just dumb luck
( all three occasions other cars just blew past me...and i was going 75-85 mph on highways...then it would go off )...hey you are getting it for a steal..dont bitch.
