Default taillights

I have a 96 Civic coupe Ex and the tail lights are red, white, and amber. I want the 99-00 civic taillights that are red and white only. Will they fit on my car and is anyone selling them??

I've heard that if you pop em open, you can just take out the amber piece and then you have your very own 99-00 tails...just thought I'd throw that out. Better than spending money on new ones, I think.

wow, that is VERY untrue.

also, what will protect the bulb? if you don't have any plastic on your lights i could walk right up and steal your bulbs.

Yes, they will bolt right up. I have '00 Si taillights on my 96 Civic Ex Coupe. Don't even think about trying to take that amber out, it won't work.

thanks everyone. I'll post pics after I get my car back from the shop. Ice+guardrail= don't try it! But I'm glad the guardrail was there, if it wasn't I would have taken a swim with my sis in the passenger side in freezing water.

I think they look good as long as they fit right. I have some red / clears for my Eg and took them off because the fitment was like $hit! I went back with the OEM's and plan to smoke half of the lens once I get the motor in and wheels on.

I had red / clears on my 98 LX and the fitment was damn near perfect, so I guess it depends on the brand of lights and the car.

I actually think they are too. I dunno why. But yeah, I don't know why the dealer told you 99-00 tails won't fit, he must not know his stuff because I have the stanley oem red clears on my 97 and it bolted on OEM. That dealer is stupid.

Most people working the parts counter at dealerships don't realize the performance aspects and cross-platform parts capabilities between models and years. I don't know how many times I've heard "that's not gonna work" or "that's not gonna fit" yet to their amazement it does.

If all dealers became a member on honda-tech, I think there would much more smarter and intelligent dealers out there than there are now.

Last time i put my 97 next to my friends 99 his taillights were a little bigger so, no 00 taillights dont fit a 96. Only 96 to 98 and 99 to 01 i think fit

don't give out false information. and 01 is the new body style so your whole post was way off base.
