Default d16y7??!?!?!?!

hey you guys, i want to put a d16y7 into my car (1993 del sol). i was wondering if you guys think its a good idea or not? i want this because of money issues......wuts a good price for this motor, including everything needed for the swap.....400-450? and if i do get this swap what kinda of potential am i looking at? i want to turbo the motor but can i get good #'s from this motor? alrigt thanks!

with FI anything is possible number wise...YOU SHOULD PROBLABLY SEARCH BUT,a lot of stuff archived

the Y7 is non-vtec, but you can swap a Y8 head on there later if you want.

it also has slightly lower compression than the Y8, which, I suppose, might be better for turbo-ing. check this thread for some info, and keep an eye out for Tom's thread about his beater build-up. there's also tons more SOHC threads out there. try the search.

I'm thinking you could save a couple hundred bucks and the hassle of pulling motors if you do a little mini-me swap (A Y8 head on the block that's in your car already). I'm pretty sure that will work. good luck.

I would swap a y8 while at it. I dont think it would be much more and you'll have the vtec!

i just pulled a d16y7 from my 97 hatch last weekend, it's in very good condition. let me know if you might be interested, i'm located in the bay area.
