is sleeving needed for forged pistons in GSR block?
i have a 95 GSR block that got rebuilt and borred out .40 over and i put JE pistons 11:1. do i need to sleeve the bock? some morron scared me and said that i cant run forged pistons on stock sleeves. i only use the car for daily driving and maybe to the local drag strip once in a while. will it **** the motor up in the future
u can run forged pistons on a stock block. however, i don't know how far you can bore on stock sleeves..i kno the helms recommends no more than .25
Wow....0.040 over.
Honda recommends boring at most 20 over. That gives it an 81.5mm bore. You can certainly run forged internals on a stock block. I'm doing that now (well, with a blockguard).
But with that high compression...I'd worry a little about the overboring you did. I'm surprised that whoever did the boring didn't know that.
