Ok..I just need a quick answer because I got into an arguement with my friend. I thought if there was any way to solve it, it would be to get the opinions of many people with car knowledge.

Heres the scenerio. a 90 integra.. with stock steelies, new tires.

He says, " Your about to slap the racing hart (17inch racing hart 3 peice c2's) on your integra to run at the track, you could get a better 40, they are bigger tires.

I said, "Bigger wheels = slower start, what are you talking about?"

He says, " You can launch at higher RPMS"

I said, " You would be able to launch at higher RPM but you wouldnt go anywhere cause its way more rotational mass."

I said, "My tires are new, your tires are new, My wheels are lighter and your wheels are way heavier, therefore I would have a better start."

He says, "whateveR"


any help here?

you guys said a lot...bigger wheels mean less torque

 

i might be wrong but i believe that smaller diameter wheels / tires means lower gearing or gear ratio.

 

bah......smaller wheels will bring you better times! Look at the pro's...theyre not racing w/ some 17's or some dubs! LOL, its common sense imo

i thought that smaller wheels have better take off, but bigger wheels have more top speed...

 

i think this is true also to an extent...

 

even so, with our quarter mile traps...its irrelevant.

 

o ok so it depends on the length of the trap?

 

nono..i meant that the bigger wheel=higher top speed factor doesnt come into play when hondas run quarter mile.

 

hahah ok so bigger wheels are useless for hondas
