Default d16z6 ... obd0 or obd1 ?

ok i know that everyone says go obd1.

how am i limited if i use an 90 teg ecu with a vafc and stay obd0?
what are the advantages of going obd1?
i know engine management is a key but im not shure if im going all out on it like i think i can pull some decent number's with the obd0 setup and then i can always go obd1 later on.

i have heard of the obd0-obd1 harness what other mod's go along with this harness? i would like this thread to be as imformational as possible. i tryed search but if anyone knows any good threads on this subject please post a link

thanks alot

Honestly.. if you are patient and dont mind the wiring.. just do the OBD1 swap, you will get the correct fuel/spark maps that the z6 was designed for..

But IMO, not all of us have that kind of time, and if you just use a vtec controller with say a pg7 ecu, and tune the ****** on the dyno, you will probably be just fine sticking with obd0..

Yeah PG7 I agree with that. I have this set up. PG7, V-AFC and a Z6. I've been pretty happy with it. Dont use the PR4 it has a lower rev limit thats the only down fall, if going with ECUs and you already have it use it, but its the same rev limit as the PM6. While the PG7 is 7200. I know for a fact that OBD1 would be a little faster but not by alot. Is it worth it to you to do the wiring conversion?? I just made a jumper and it took about 6hrs and it suxs or do you have the $$$ for a jumper about 150.00. OBD0 electronics (diz mostly) are know for going out but there atleast 12 years old so thats no too bad.

litmiting factor in the non-obd PR4/Pm6/7 are vtec activation, ignition maps and rev limit and fuel maps.
VAFC can take care of fueling and vtec activation but rev limit and ignition maps are still holding back the overall performance of the motor.
my recomendation is to have the PR4 chipped. (many specs exist including PM6/PM7 or PR4 aftermarket program which will work) this can take care of the ignition maps and higher rev limit.

What are the advantages of going obd1?
advanatge of a P28 is that its very flexiable and programed with an aggressive maps. its oem, no need for VAFC or other add ons to extract good power. its reliable and cheap as well.

if you purchase or make your own harness converter. you also need to have the distributor reppined (OBDI distributor) use of OBDI injectors (not necessary) but can also be done.

i was told by my friend who owns a shop and has been racing for 26 yrs and have been tunning hondas for over 12 yrs told me the following
well one thing people dont know is that Honda Engines normally reach Full ignition timing advance around 4100 rpms and the rest relies on actual Air/Fuel maps
the ignition advance was design to maximize engine performance on low and mid range while driving on city etc... on WOT over 4100 rpms the engine its fully advanced and running on programed Fuel maps
