Default J&S safegard install with JRSC question.

ok, so I'm ready to install my J&S safegard on my 01 Lude with the JRSC, and my question is on the ignition trigger wire (Conector A, wire 20 - yel/green) I already have that wire tapped for the timig retard. In the install page I'm following, it tells me to cut this wire, and install the green wire of the J&S to one end and the white wire of the J&S to the other end,,, but do I do this before or after where I spliced my timing retard wire into that yellow/green wire??? does it matter??? I want to use the retard of the JR **** for timing control.

Thanks guys,
Daniele DeFranceschi

One more thing,,, I also have the same question for where to splice into for the throttle position wire? Ont firewall side or the ECU side of the where the JRSC wires tapped into?

Thanks,

you shouldnt have any need for the JR BTC if you have a j&s, the reason being the j&s is basically an automatic BTC. i dont think there is any good way to hook up both at once, since they both modify the timing signal.

I see yor point... I only wanted to use the BTM from the JRSC because it's quick easy to adjust, and I wanted to use the J&S as just a safegard.
any know how to wire these too to get them to work like this?

Your boost retard function should be a set it and forget it...you should not be changing it on the fly, nor should you make changes once it's set(unless it's set incorrectly). And if I remember correctly the boost retard function on the J&S is far superior to what the BTM has.

I've seen blown engines from people playing with *****...***** are bad.

I adjust the **** for things like when only 91 or 92 gas is available. (I'm from Canada where we get 93 and 94!) So I retard the timing further for things bad gas or a very hot day.

Does anyone know the specs for how much timing is pulled at min and Max for the J&S? also, the start know,,, what are the perameters for this? is, all the way turned to the left start the timing retard at 0 psi of boost or somewhere in vacume??? If it is 0 psi I can tune it by starting with max retard and advanceing it untill the J&S picks up knock and just turn it a hair back from their.

That's what the J&S is for, and 1 point of octane will not make too much of a difference.

For your answers...they should all be found in the instruction booklet located http://www.jandssafeguard.com/safeguard.html

I would install the J&S after the BTM and tap the TPS wire at the ECU. All my J&S connections are at the ECU plugs but I don't have the BTC and haen't really seen a need for it. I'll probably be going to the Hondata or AEM EMS in the near future anyway.
