starter or battery?
okay im really getting tired of this problem...sometimes when i try to start my car it will just click but not start it will take anywhere form 10-30 trys before it starts up...there lighting and everythign and my terminals are connected right and theres no corrosion on any of it...i highly doubt its my alternator cuz u cant here it spool up or try/struggle...i had my battery tested and its good...so could it be my starter? anyone have pics of one? and how hard is it to install and mow much am i looking at for a new one or refurbished one? thanks alot guys...
my starter just died on me a few days ago. i was at school so i had to get it fixed at a local garage. it cost me $220 installed for a rebuilt one.
it isnt' that hard to install. you can pick up an aftermarket one plus trade for like $60. installing it.. its under your distributor.. and its a long oval shaped black metal piece.. like an oversized soda can. i rmemeber there was 1 big long bolt that seeemed a lil hard to get to and like one or two more lil bolts.

it's one of your ground wires..try the one by your intake filter [or where the stock one should be] thats all i can say or take ur starter to autozone and have them test it

I say: "starter"
Had the same problem on a 94 GSR.
Everything worked fine but when I turned the key to start it, it would just click until magically it would decide to turn over.
I replaced the starter with a reman. unit from AutoZone or NAPA and the problem went away. And I did check the connections before I replaced the starter.

after checking the wiring (power wires, ground wires, corrosion, etc)... I think its the starter... when the starter went out on my 95 it did the same thing.. I'd turn the key. hear a click (solenoid) but the motor wouldn't turn over... I would keep trying or wait a while then it would start up... replaced the starter and it has been fine up until the accident...
What happens is your starter carbons are out, they are what crank your engine to turn on, just take out your starter (only 2 bolts) and take it to an alternator shop, it should only cost like 40 bucks to fix it, the same thing happened to my starter...
i had the exact same problem last week...i was told that it was my starter, so i was about to buy a new starter....but i decided to double check the wires before i bought one...all i did was check the wires and i loosened and tightened the starter cable (its on the starter) and i had no problems since then
