Default Gotta love beatin 00si's, But why does it happen?

Last night on the way home my girl and I were on I-94 out of milwaukee when a 00si(electron blue ) with at least springs, rims, exhaust, and a Autometer??, and a 00red ex w/ rims and springs pulled up next to us. Im running in an 89 si with 150,000, I/E, no rear seats, coil-overs, and a cut a/c belt (gotta get all you can baby!!). So were doing about 65 and the three of us are 3 wide. I drop into 3rd and proceed to pull about 3/4 lenght ahead of the SI and 1 car ahead of the ex. So I let off. Ive been beating alot of stuff lately, last weeked I beat my buddys 00lude. Have you hatch owners ever smoked something you shouldnt have? Im wondering if its my driving or the power of the hatch Let me know if you guys have beat bigger stuff!!!

Nothin' like 'n

well first off, have you ever drove the new si's? ok they suck. I am sorry but i wasn't impressed at all. The thing lagged before 6500 rpms. I know that is what it is kinda supposed to do but it didn't even move when it did get up there. I don't see how people compare these cars to a gsr because an si is nothing compared to a gsr. so i could believe you beating one a little. Or they just weren't getting on it. i don't know but good job anywayz.

Are you talking about VTEC? Hahaha...hmm, I didn't know that on Si's, the VTEC engaged at such a high RPM.

Vtec Kicks in pretty late on a si i believe its like 5500-5700 rpm. This post could cause a riot on the clubsi.com board.

Yeah, those new SIs are slow... I used to beat them when i still had my stock D16 motor in my CRX. Even pretty laden with bolt-ons, they still have a little too much weight to represent any real challenge

The new Sis arent that fast, I test drove one about a year ago, and the salesman was like "a lot faster than your little CRX isnt it?" This was when I already had the swap, and I was like uhh sure. Theyre not bad, the cars performance is very driver dependent. I wouldnt mind having one if it had a Vortech SC attatched

a stock si is faster than a stock crx and only slightly slower than the gsr. Ive driven the si and yes it does feel slow. the thing is you have to know how to drive it. our cars redline at 6500 and theirs redline at 8K so you really have to be used to driving it before you start to realize its speed. Ive beat all kinds of cars i shouldnt have, its called a bad driver.

I beat GSRs and EK Si's all the time in my 89 Civic Si. I have even nosed a bud in his ITR and my other bud in his b16a1 equipped 91 DX CRX. I still have the stock motor, but I have alot done to it, with more on the way.

Any Vtech civic sucks ***...my buddy has a 93 coupe with i/e/h and my 72 hp civic hatch with an intake can keep up. the vtech should switch at a lower rpm and you can do that but if you dont have like a V-AFC then v-tech is usless unless you know how to drive it. my friend is a complete TISO (Typical SI Owner) and he cant drive worth a crap. he is in v-tech for about 1000 rpms then he switches and it goes off v-tech. if you have that technology in your car be able to use it. or not, let guys like me beat you into the ground
but i want a Vtech anyway

Ok, first off, I am an 88 CRX Si owner. But until February I owned a 00 EBP Si. Only an AEM cai and DC shifter, and I had no problem keeping with GSR's. No bull$hit either. If y'all were in the know, you would realize that the Si, while being burdened w/ 2600 lbs., had a 160 hp B16 as well as the same gearing as a Type R. By shifting at 8000-8300 you can stay in VTEC. Granted, its not the fastest thing with an H on it, but given its low price, its a helluva car bro.

Well, I drove my cousin's 00' Si with i/e and it seemed pretty fast....although I'm used to my 72hp 90' STD hatchback.

I do not consider 15.1 in the quarter slow for a car with just i/h/e. It will keep up with gsr's. Maybe I just got a really good motor. Its a great daily driver its nice to have p/w sunroof a/c p/s keyless entry and still run low 15's.

15.0 is pretty slow in my terms of fast. my car probably does like 22.0 or something but it doesn't get FAST for me till like maybe 12s I might consider getting up there.
