Few questions about installing a autometer tach in my 92 si.
I bought a used tach and it came with no instructions so please no flames. I just want to make sure I wire it up correctly. I have 4 wires. Black, Red, White and Green.
Black = Ground
Red Is this constant power or only when the key is on?
White Is this constant power or only when the key is on?
Green is the pickup to make the tach work?
Where does everyone run their green wire to? All the way out of the firewall or can I tap into to it in the car somewhere.
TIA

other than that everything looks good to me other than that white is probably hooked up to your dimmer switch.
Thanks for the link. I did not know they had the diagrams on there. Does anyone know the wire in the car to tap into for the green wire on the tach. Thanks

black is ground.........you can wire the white wire to your fuse panel where the dimmer switch is........wire the red to anything that has constant power while the key is on...... and you can wire the green to the blue wire at the dizzy, or the blue thick wire in the corner of the drivers side engine comp. by the firewal. coming out of a rubber gramet. you'll know it when you see it. also cut the tiny looped orange wire, and leave the tiny brown one hooked up. ( if you leave the brown hooked up, the needle will go back to 0 when you turn it off, it won't hang up to what ever rpm the car was at when you turned the key off.
the white wire i believe is for the light...gotta hook it up to your dash lights....i believe the brown is for v8 and orange is for v6..correct me if im wrong...you can cut both of them if your running a 4 banger....
I have the same tach, I kept the install pretty simple. I kept all the wiring behind my factory cluster to keep it clean. I ran the ground (Black) to a chasis bolt. The red to where your factory clock is, or is supposed to be. The white hooked into one of the wires where the factory cluster is plugged in ( use a test light), and the green went to the blue tach singnal wire, it's the plug on the left right behind your factory tach.
