Default type-s drama !

i am 19 and want to purchase a 2003 type-s. my parents are cool with it they just dont want to co-sign for the car and take the chance of me ******* up and having to pay for the car. they couldnt afford that right now. also they think its totally stupid of me to buy a new car at 19 and be strapped with payments for years to come. any advice on how to convince my parents that im responsible and have them co-sign for the car. also is 2500 to little for a down payment?? thanx-peace.

define salvage title, that could mean anything from it being stolen for 10 minutes to having a tweeked frame.

Just go for an EP3 and use the extra money to drop in a type-s engine...I know a lot of people that broke even by selling their SI engine and buying a Type-S one, plus your insurance will be a bitch and a half on a type-s. Just my 2 cents...

if you do buy the car, dont spend a ******* dime on a mod until its paid off.
if you plan on going to college, beleive me you DONT want a car note during college.

Im in the same situation as u are in. Except i dont have to worry bout the college part cuz GA pays for college. I just have to make the payments the only thing is with my parents i basically have one bill or the other so i have decided to pick up insurence. And for the record i am not spoil......2yrs in the '93 toyota previa more than makes up for it. If ya dont know what that is its the old *** van that u guys prolly fly past and it looks like a bullet. My only advice is try and put down as much as u can.

On a $24,000 car?! IMHO, it's not enough.

Don't do it. I made the same decision at the end of last year for a 2000 Civic Si and I'm regretting it now. I thought that I could easily handle the payments, and that the car would be worth it to me, but my parents felt just the same way as yours do and I was warned of the consequences. Now I'm stuck with the payments for the next 5 years, and it's really going to be tough to have to pay for this car and take care of my college needs at the same time. I should have listened to everyone. I really wish I would have at least waited a few more years and saved up some more money, or bought a cheaper car, or just have been satisfied with the car I had.

And don't forget you're 19 years old, insurance is going to kill you.

its just hard for me to see all these 16-20 year olds with type-s's and wrx's that they can pay for on there own. my friend has a 03 WRx and he just dedicates himself to it and spends his $$ on what he loves. i agree with the used car idea its more practical but i cant stop thinkin of the possibility of a new car its hard. i guess ill have to learn the hard way.
