i have a 96 ex coupe with keyless entry...about 2 months ago my battery in my remote went dead...i replaced it...then i had to reprogram the remote with the radio...the remote work for about 2-3 weeks..now for the past month the keyless entry wont work...ive bought 2 new remote and tried to reprogram these 2..when i program the remotes the door are getting the singal cuz they lock..then i take the key out of the ingnition and try to lock or unlock the doors and nothing happens..BTW i have a stock radio with OEM cd changer...i do have an SI deck laying around that i will prolly be putting in if i cant figure this out...

my ?? are:

1. could my problem be with my stock head unit??
2. could it be that i have gotten bad remotes??

sounds to me like a keyless entry problem.. but not sure.. its is possible to add another radio to your car have the keyless entry still work.. is done all the times and it will work w/ your SI deck w/ no problems.. just get a honda t-harness from any audio shop and hid the stock unit behind the dash.. keyless will still work and you willl have an SI deck now also

 

well i know that i can put in a SI deck with problem..but do u think i have a problem with the head unit (were the brain is located)..thank for ur help..

its a possibility.. all 96-98 civic keyless entry is controled by the stock radio, i woud just scrap the stock keyless in favor of an aftermarket radio and aftermarket keyless entry cause the oem one is garbage
