What LSD should I get?
Hi I have an 88 CRX Si with a B20/B16 swap and need to get an LSD. Not sure what tranny I have yet, the car's still @ the shop where it's getting worked on. Most likely a 92-93 GSR cable tranny.
I need an LSD but I don't know what company to go with. Any suggestions?
P.S. This is a track/Solo 1 car so yea, I need one!

You are going to need to find out for sure what tranny you have before you can order anything. I would recommend a clutch type 1.5 way (you could go two, and it would be awesome at the track, but it will wear quickly). I would recommend any of the high quality unts as they are all about par, and each has a slightly different strong point, but stick to ATS, Kazz, cusco, or mugen.
Quaife over Kazz I think.. Quaife doesn't have a break-in period unlike Kazz, and the quaife never wears out and comes with a lifetime warantee.. Kazz needs to have the little cluch thingys replaced every 60,000 I believe.
But what do I know!?

from what i have heard quaife is the best by far. i haven't heard anything bad about them. they are the nicest and the strongest. it's going to be pricey but spend the money the first time and get it done right. i found that out with my motor mounts.
youre going to get lots of opinions, some from ppl who dont even own an LSD. but pretty much there are only a limited number of vendors for aftermarket LSD. it will be the amount of money you want to spend that will determine your decision the most.
mugen seems out of your price range, and out of most everyone else, i doubt you'll hear many opinions on this. from a road racing perspective, ive heard its better than quaife in use. ive got one ive yet to install.
quaife seems to be a favorite. torsen diff makes for smooth use, only drawback is it needs both wheels on the ground at the same time to work properly. a problem for road racers, not for drag racers. a good overall value.
kaaz seems to do well for both drag and road racers. i have no experience and no other comment.
OPM has a LSD "clutch" type that inserts into the stock spider gears to lock the two axles. it works ok for road racers, although ive heard some users still prefer the quaife. i've got it on my tranny, it works. although it can leave bits of metal in the tranny fluid. most racers change fluid regularly anyway. priced cheaper than a quaife, requires modification of the stock diff so you must send them your core and they give you a modified diff.
phantom grip is a copy of the OPM type. perhaps not built as well as the OPM model tho, because the reviews have led it to be called the "phantom slip". the only good thing about it is the cheap cost, but you still have to modify the stock diff to make it work.

Lets add another contendor to the ring, ATS.

I own a quaife. Reason for buying was the lifetime warntey and no break in period.
there are group buys for $810 for a unit. It works good in my opinion. way better over stock

And the "little clutch thingys" is exactly the reason to go with a Kaaz, etc., clutch type. If you guys ever turn your cars, you'll understand why!
Why would a Quaife not work as well as a Kaaz? I do not own an LSD, but at one time was going to spend some money on one and did as much reading as I could find.. I didn't hear of anyone not loving the Qaife, however I hear of a lot of people being frustrated with the Kaaz. (replacing clutches, the noise, break-in, etc.)
My Friend Has a J1 cable tranny with a kaaz LSD for sale FOR $1000 firm , the trannys has also 3-4 gers rebuilt with sychros , also he is including the Kaaz 2 quarts of speacial LSD gear oil (60 new ) and also kaaz speed sensor (100 value ) the stock honda ones wont work , pretty good deal since the LSD alone goes for 1,000 new and stock cable tranny with hondas lsd go for 600-800 ( the old hondas lsd arent the greatest
