which exhaust to get..hmmm
i dont what exhaust i should get im thinkin tanabe or 5zigen but i just dont know.. it is really time for exhaust, and i plan on goin turbo-so give me some ideas if you could. oh yah im also not made of money...you guys get the point, thanx a lot
Well if your going turbo, your going to want to get a 3inch exhaust. I kno Thermal makes a great 3inch exhaust. It will probably cost you around $450-500 new.
man i tell everyone the smae thing so here ya go a quote from an earlier thread that is my response. pay careful attention and remeber its not who makes the catback exhaust, it's what will best suit your setup/future setup. no reaseon to waste money on parts like this. sorry i'll stooop ramblin and tell ya. . .

ok i have done a lot of personal research on this subject for a while. it really comes down to what horsepower range is your goal. if youare looking to put out 200hp at the wheels on a b18c1, or any engine for that matter, you will need an exhaust with at least a 2 3/8" diameter. the most you could put out with this diameter exhaust would be around 230-250. the 2.25" diameter will cap you off around the 180-190 range. 2.5" will cap you off around 290-300. so i hope that helps you on making a decision. although price sound quality and customer service do come into play as well. personally, i would get a magna flow muffler withcustom 2.5" tubing with a resonator. this will save you a lot of money and will cost around 200-250 depending on how much the shop you go to charges. the magna flow will sound just like the comptech exhaust especially if you get a straight through design on the muffler.

and if you are going turbo you will want at least a 2.5-3" exhaust. this is allh depending on what altitude you live at, the boost you wanna run and the goals you want. 3" can support 300-400 hp no problem but you have to make sure you get it all right otherwise you'll sound like a fart can and your engine will bog at certain rpm's-the low ones-till the turbo spools up.
Keep in mind that a boosted engine is going to create more exhaust gases at any given rpm than an all motor creating equal HP.

This was a discussion on exhaust and N2O, but it has alot of good FI + exhaust info as well. Worth the read.

Velocity is still important (Which is why I recommened a 2.5" exhaust instead of a 3") in order to help scavenge the pulses, but now, instead of being tuned to scavenge a fixed amount of gasses at a higher speed, you need the exhaust system to scavenge a larger quantity of gasses at every speed. See where I'm coming from? A boosted motor produces high power through a larger charge, not a more frequent one.
