i cannot afford quality for all my set, i have nothing so far and im deciding what to buy....
i can choose between
h/u- pramid(new)...blaupunkt(used)
mids-nippon america....pioneer,explod,kenwood...
high and tweets-boss...kicker
subwoofer-bumper "400 watt" 10's...kicker impulse 10's...jl audio w3 10...(all used)
box-cheap....specially made for sub size/brand(not so cheap)
amps-pioneer...kicker...punch...rockwood...legacy
i want good sq and i have a small budget, now ive heard cheap sets before and they sound alright, when the volume is low...
but i drove a suzuki alto with a banging set in it the other day, i could have sworn he had some pretty good stuff in it, tirns out it was one bazooka tube 8" some cheap 4's and a nameless 400 watt amp...
i was thinking i should get the best mids and highs, good/average h/u and go cheap on an overrated amp and a ghetto sub...
any advice will be usefull

Head unit I would go to best buy or the like and get a cheap sony, pioneer ect.
Mids the ones you have are ok. Pick what you like.
Highs go with kicker no boss.
Sub both are good but I would get the jl's.
You need a good amp. You can have the best **** but with no power it will sound like ****. No legacy or rockwood.
If you have to spend a little more for the better stuff you should. I would not worry about the mids and highs right now. Just run them off of the head unit for now untill you can afford better ones

thanks, wht i made this a poll is beyond me
i was high, ate some sugar and im better now
so you are saying that a good quality amp is very important? i always though i could get away with the rockwoods as long as i have good speakkers, oh well..
but i still need to know what i can go cheap with, i know the mids and highs can just be average and i would run them off my h/u but what about maybe 2 cheap 12's, something like lanzar or super pro, wouldnt they hit better than like one 10 on the same power and h/u?
ahh forget it, my questions suck, i already know i need quality for everything, ill probably end up buying all cheap stuff and closing my windows while i listen to it, or rob someone with an expensive set
any more help?

a high quality system doesn't necessary have to cost a lot. just go around and search for good brands. as long as the amp puts out good amount of power, then it shouldn't really matter that much. focus more on the speakers/subs themselves and the installation.
Focus on a descent head unit and speakers. If you don't try to overdrive the amps, you will not be able to tell the difference between a more expensive one.
Why are you looking for mids and tweets? You can get a component set for 135 (infinity reference, DEI). Get a 4 channel amp and bridge 2 channels for the subs.

I wouldn't skimp out on anything - including wiring - if you want SQ.
My suggestion is buy a head unit, then speakers, then an amp, and then subwoofers. You be surprised at how good a system can sound with just a nicely put together system with an amp powering interior speakers can sound. I just two 6.5"s in my Sol with ~60 watts RMS and it sounds great - I may not even put in subwoofers.

). It works well. It is easier to spend the money over 6 months than all at once for most people.

This is the route I would take personally. I have done this a few times, and I am doing it right now(just got parts for phase 2

get you a good h/u first, make that your foundation then get some nice componets in the front and decent rear speakers cause who cares about the people in the back seat. Now that the 2003 lines are rolling out, 2002 stuff will be on sale. Remember with car audio and everything else if it is worth doing it is worth doing it right the first time.
I still haven't heard a budget yet, but if it was me...I'd go headunit, then amp/sub combo, then front speakers.
You will see a significant improvement by adding a sub before you replace the stock speakers (so long as they are in good condition). That's just my opinion though...

buy an amp first, any way you can. This can be done by buying a) an amp
or b) buying a headunit with a better internal amp.
you will sound better and louder by doing this since the internal amp on your stock HU is like 9 watts and like all amps, distorts past 2/3s (or less...) with proper power going to your stock speakers, they will sound much better (surprisingly!)
if your going to amp your whole car, you might consider a 4 chan amp to begin..but usually the first amp purchased is a monoblock for your subs.
spend your cash wisely, and slowly; dont rush into things! save up for electronics of higher quality and stay away from brands that are known as marketting gimmicks

The stock speakers sound much better with amps. I was surprised.
I would suggest getting a 4 channel amp before a sub amp and subs though. You will not hear your music above your bass, and you will not hear it above road noise.
