obd0-->obd1 or not?? *confused*
ok, so right now i have a 89 crx si with the stock engine but its getting a 1st gen b16a as soon as i get some time and all the parts i need, the motor is complete and running in another crx i have that is wrecked, i plan on swaping it all over into my si and i want to run a header but cant find any brands that have the 2 o2 sensor bungs and i couldnt bring myself to allow a muffler shop to potentially screw up a brand new header because i plan on geting something nice (expensive), ive heard you can chip my ecu call me paraniod, but i just dont trust that ****, whats involved in the obdo - obd1 swap and what parts do i need?
im sure ill need:
obd - obd1 conversion harness
new o2 sensor
obd2 ecu
but will i need any other stuff? like sensors or anything? or does anyone have any better ideas for me? i dunno, someone who does know please reply, thanks

You'll also need the OBD I distributor. OBD I fuel injectors are optional. I too looked into doing this, since I got a DC (used) header for my B16. I found it to costly though, so I opted to get the 2 O2 bungs welded on. Actually, I just had it done this week and I'm going to install the header back on tomorrow. I've been running with one O2 sensor for a while now, so hopefully I'll notice a big improvement in gas mpg and emissions! (won't pass emissions with one O2)

Here's what Jason, who goes by Blown90Hatch emailed to me when I asked him this same question a while back:

Here is why people do it on the 88-91 cars:
Better electronics....has your distributor ever died
on you? The 1st gen B16a distributors always die.
The electronics are notorious for failing. Most
people who get my harness are running the D16z6 engine
and want to use the OBD1 P28 ecu that comes with it.
ALso, many people buy this harness so they can run the
Hondata standalone engine managment.
Smoother running car. The OBd1 uses the 4 wire O2
sensor. This and the better electronics make your car
firing smoother and run overall smoother. I have not
seen it make any power gains on a stock engine.
However, when I switched from OBd0-OBd1 on my boosted
EF, I made significant power overall. The dyno curve
was jumpy when I was OBd0 and then smoothened out when
I was OBD1.
For this conversion you will need: Harness, OBD1 ecu,
4 wire O2 sensor, and OBD1 distributor. After you
sell off your old stuff, you will be spending around
300-400 depending on what you get.
Asking whether it is worth it or not, you have to ask
what you goals for the car are.

cool thanks for the replys, but one more question, with the conversion how does the obd1 distributor hook up? do i have to remove the pins from the new distributor and put them in my old plug? and what about the o2 sensor? would i have to run wires up to the ecu? ide like the install to look as clean as possible and not all hacked up
oh yea one more thing, what distributors can i use? will any obd1 (and will obd2 work?) b series distributor work or does it matter if its from a vtec motor (basically would something like a crv or ls distributor work?) also what difference does it make if i use the injectors i have? sorry if im being a pain in the *** with all these ?'s

I haven't done it myself, so I don't know the answers you're looking for. Blown90Hatch would know, since he sells a lot of those conversion harnesses. Send him an IM.
