Default got a question about my hatch gettting painted soon

i got a 92 hatch with all the body work done to it by a friend who is pretty good. i was wondering how much am i looking to spend for a quick spray and buff job. i was thinking about macco because they were cheap but i heard some bad stories about that place. i already have the paint which is PPG and my car sits on steelies rite now and all the rubber moldings are off. i have a broken windshield so i wouldnt care if it got overspray on all those things. i'm not really looking to spend that much.

saw a commercial and said maaco ambassador paint job is 275 dollars. its a single stage paint job i believe. it's not the best paint job, but it sure is cheap.

maaco is just ****. that simple. for every good story you hear about maaco there's at least 10 bad ones. don't do it. you'll thank yourself later on for spending a little more money for a better paint job. why don't you just call your local shops and see what they say.

If all the prep work was done properly, you MAY BE okay.

Prepwork is what "painting" is all about. If your prep work is real good it should be that hard for the paint to come out bad. Can your buddy colorsand?

yea, most tech schools only charge for materials, no labor and the work is ususlly pretty good, considering tech schools have nice equipment to use.. Good idea if you arent looking to spend alot!

taking your ride to a scholl IMO is a no no.. You have to worry about overspray, fisheyes, waves, etc etc etc... these guys are students and you might end up with the class clown doin the sprayin'.

I think you'll be happiest in the long run if you wait, save a bit more, and pay to do it right the first time.
