engine runs like hell at normal driving speeds, any one know why?
I have a 93 Accord EX and when the vehicle is running at normal around town speeds it runs like hell. It feels like it is starving for ruel or air. It doesn't do it all the time, mostily when it get hot. It starts to sputter and pop in what sounds like my AEM CAI tube. I can also hear my filter on the CAI sucking hard at times. It sounds like a back fire in my tube. I just installed a throttle body and a header on the car but it ran fine for a week then this. I had a check engine light when I was done with the upgrades but found out it was the TPS. Now the light is gone but this. Also I do not have a check engine light when it runs like this. Any one ever had something like this before? It is driving me crazy. Thanks.
If your TPS is adjusted correctly, the other areas you may want to investigate are the EGR ports on the intake manifold and the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor can cause a surge at cruising speeds, but I've never run across the popping you you describe. Cleaning the EGR ports is a do it yourself job, but it can be tedious.
Whens the last time you changed the spark plugs.
At low rpms, your coil has more time to charge and is able to jump the gap on your old plugs. At high rpms it doesnt.
Cheap fix if thats what it is.

You might want to do a compression test. It could be a bad intake valve letting the compression back into the intake tube. This would also make the car run like crap. Just a suggestion...
I would definately go for the bad O2 sensor. I've had exactly the same problems as you, and after the same mods. I rode it for a while, and when it got worst, the ECU threw me a code. It was the O2 sensor. When the code appeared, the ECU went on limp mode or default mapping I guess, and the car was running fine from then on, until the engine cooled off when I shut it down.
