$1500 to spend on B18b???? LSvtec or turbo?
1500 should be enough to do an lsvtec if you do it yourself.
yea, thats definately not enough to build a nice/reliable LS/VTEC. there's a lot more involved that just slappin a VTEC head on it. my friend put about $8K into his LS/VTEC. If i were you, i'd just save a lil more and go for the turbo.

Thats an absurd price, that has to be with stage 3 aftermarket stuff.
800 for rods and pistons (eagle/weisco/rollerwave/ctr) b16a complete head, new T belts, oil pump and all bearings. with a overbore or hone. I built my last LS-Vtec (put down 193 WHP) with ctr stuff for 1800.00
I guess thats cause I do my own labor though.

Whatever you do, get rid of that nonvtec head. Make sure that a vtec head is part of your new setup, whether it is n/a or not. I dont see many redeeming qualities in the ls head

A Non-Vtec has plenty of potential, the only drawback is no 8500 RPM redline.

Yeah, it is harsh but there are more drawbacks than the redline. VTEC heads flow better, are designed for high revs, and will always outpower a similarly modded LS head. And I have an ls with 62403's. Even with proper tuning, a cammed and worked LS head will barely be streetable if it is going to make the same power as a vtc head. if it were my setup, the head would be the first thing to go, even if I didnt have the $$ for a full buildup. Sad but true.

I agree. If you were to do either with only $1500, it would't be very cool. You should consider cams, intake, header, and exhaust. Start there with only $1500.

I currently have CAI, jdm4-1, carsound cat, aem pulley, HKS hiper exhaust, cam gears untuned and a Exedy clutch and flywheel. It has plenty of torque and pulls hard mid range but 3 gear really sucks cuz thats when I always get pulled on by the gsr's. With 1500 I'm thinkin about may be puttin together a junkyard turbo or just save up another 800 and get a maxrev kit from Kyle
. I think saving another 8 and gettin it from kyle would be my best interest. But I gotta do some research on the kit first
. Is it complete or do I have to spend more on other BS? Cause I just wanna get some power slap it on and tune it. I guess FI is the way I'm goin, LS vtec will cost to much when I can boost 5psi and be safe
.
Like my sig says I don't need VTec
PS would yal bang my girl

Sheesh for 8k I could have a turbo MR2 again runnin low 13's with a boost controller heh
waddya mean again! dont you know that once you have one of those you are never ever supposed to let it go, everyone i know who has sold has always later said they wish they hadnt...including me
but to answer your question, dont do either...build up your suspension and brakes first...springs, struts, sway bars and some drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads before you start adding any extra power
