Exedy Organic to ACT Extreme Review....
I had replaced my stock ITR clutch with a Exedy Organic Clutch along with a stock ITR Flywheel that was resurfaced and balanced. After the Exedy install there was nothing but problems. I had to adjust the the push rod many times to get the grinding noise to stop, but it would come and go as it pleased it seemed, even after the adjustments. 1st Impression of the Exedy was that the pedal feel was just like stock and that it grabbed somewhat as good as stock. After 1,200miles on the clutch after a long and easy 500mile break in period, the Exedy started to slip noticably. Very unhappy with the Exedy Organic but it is cheap. (get what u pay for). Exedy Organic =
I have since, 600 miles ago to be exact installed a ACT Extreme Pressure Plate along with an ACT Street/Strip Disc, and a Fidanza Flywheel. Price of the ACT Extreme Kit was $465 shipped and $290 for the Fidanza flywheel.
After another 500 mile soft and easy break in period, I revved out #120 and wanted to see the clamping force of the ACT setup compared to Exedy. Well all I can say is that I better purchase some new axles for days at the track. The 1st to 2nd shift is volent(the glove box not only opened but fell onto the floor). Wheels spin from 2nd to 3rd and a chirp from 3rd to 4th with ease.
The pedal feel has the same amount of play as stock and the pedal pessure is not bad at all. Totaly driveable for daily driving! This is the perfect setup for me and will hold the power and take the abuse, just like all ACT products seem to do!
This ACT with the Extreme Pressure Plate and Street/Strip Disc mated with the Fidanza Flywheel gets a huge
from me! I should have purchased this setup the 1st time and saved the trouble of 2 installs within a 2 month period!

hahahahahaGood review, I love the stock clutch, but may upgrade this summer. People already tell me that when I'm shifting at high rpms w/ the stock clutch, it sounds like my dash board is going to fall off. haha
I have driven on that setup in a GSR and it is
Grabs really hard. [Modified by EbboyPSi, 12:39 PM 2/7/2003]

im not a big fan of ACT , i prefer Tilton clutch and flywheel combo
Im between this setup, spoon clutch/fly, and toda clutch/fly
sometimes I wonder if i'll ever decide
Larkin whos stock clutch still grabs very hard after 43,000 miles

hows the engagment point between the HD and the extreme? is there that big of a diffrence?
And how much is as Tilton Clutch?

I've always recommended the clutch setup you're running for those that aren't making a lot of torque.
ACT Xtreme PP with SS disc

This setup sounds great, but do you think there will be any permature failure w/ the tranny?
I had the Extreme plate w/the SS disc...and now have the HDSS setup. The pedal pressure is a bit more w/the extreme, but not a lot more in my opinion. You'd be happy w/either one.
Do not be concerned with increased wear on the tranny.
Of course not. I have ITR trannies just laying around to be tooled with.
I had my first ACT HDSS for 55,000 hard race/daily driven miles. I just replaced the Disc, grabs harder than it did before. Gotta relearn how to drive again
for ACT
for ACT
I know what you mean about the axles too. Just went to the track yesterday, broke both axles on the same run. Snapped the driver side spline that goes into the hub and broke a bearing the the passenger side axle.
for breaking both in one shot. I've had both the extreme and HD and they are close in pedal feel. The extreme 4puck did a number on my ACT(p.o.s) flywheel though I ended up running the full-face disc & HD PP with ~300hp and had no real slipping.
I will be needing a new clutch soon for my prelude, I don't know if i'm going to go with act again. Are they now using new PP's, rather than rebuilds?

Having second thoughts now
