Opinions on Exedy flywheel
I'm looking at the Exedy organic clutch/flywheel package on Clutch City and although I've heard great remarks on the Exedy clutch I do not recall hearing from or even seeing too many people using the flywheel as well. Any feedback on this unit would be appreciated. I'm looking at $625 for the package, any other recommendations? Thanks guys....It's Friday, let's get drunk

Leo had the Spoon for 370 I think it was. And I think the Exedy is like 265 or less, so thats 635 right there y0. I havent heard much feed back on the Exedy flywheels either, I think they're like 8 or 9lbs. the Spoon is 10lbs, but some have problems with the USDM starter. But there's was to fix the USDM one or just swap it out for a JDM starter(extra bling points-hehehe).
I was thinking about letting King shed my R down to 12lbs, or the GSR to 13lbs. Only a 100bucks, Arron had this doen on his old GSR, and said he loved it.
I've had the Exedy flywheel in my GSR. Its a nice piece, 9lbs cromaly etc.
But IMHO, I'd rather stick with the aluminum one.....and I went back to using a new Fidanza Aluminum flywheel.
my first flywheel was a CM Aluminum piece, and when I switched to the cromaly exedy one, I noticed that the car didnt rev up as fast.....so my acceleration slowed a bit....

I would strongly suggest going with a different clutch.. I put the exedy organic in a few months ago and now regret it.. probably the worst purchase I've ever made for my car.. slips horribly, the pedal adjustment was a pain in the ***, and STILL sometimes engages the clutch too far.. not to mention driving up hill in a parking garage, it struggles..
smitdog put one in his car and thought it was so bad he replaced it with an ACT like a month later..
trust me on this, you are much better off with a different clutch..

i have only heard a slim few complaints about Exedy clutches ....but lots of good response ....maybe your problems were due to the quality of the installation

But personally, I have not had any problems with my exedy clutch. Installed myself, broke it in and am completely satisfied with it. Nice price, stock pedal feel, and grabs great.
from me for the exedy.[Modified by Eva01, 9:17 PM 2/7/2003]
so a Exedy clutch , with a Fidanza flywheel , would be a good combination
Dammit, this thread was about their flywheel not the friggin clutch Let's get back on topic....any flywheel users up in this mess?

As long as the teeth are good on it, you should be fine. When my Jun was pulled a couple weeks ago, the teeth were eaten up so bad that I had to replace it. So...now I have a Jun flywheel sitting on my floor.

I used both Exedy flywheel, JUN ultralight and have a new Toda sitting in my garage. The Exedy is about 1lb heavier than the JUN, they both felt great. Exedy one is good bang for the $.
I'm running the exedy organic/exedy flywheel combo. I love it, one of my better mods, good feel to the clutch and great response. I can't vouch for other flywheels but i didnt adjust the pedal after installation, it's just fine for me.

I am still running the Exedy organic clutch and a Toda Flywheel.I have about 20,000 miles on it and i am having zero problems. Allot of the exedy bashing has mostly to do with the installation. I took mine to Tischer Acura in laurel maryland(mainly cause i thought i would get some warranty work out of them...funny huh). but any way engagement is great and I got to keep a stock feel. I will let you guys know how it holds up now that i am making about 15-20 whp more now then what i was....
cliff notes- I still like my exedy matched with toda fw. 20k still going strong..IMHO its all about installation.
