Default transmission problem....

today i was at the lights waiting to turn left, and i coulden't get it into gear. the clutch was floored, i tried everything to get it into gear and it woulden't go. so after waiting for a while, i started the car and it worked. then drove to a nearby parking lot where it worked for a while but then woulden't go into gear again....then on the drive home on the highway, it happend about 3 times again, so i turned off the car and started up again and worked even tho it was rough going in and out of gear. on the downshift from 5th to 4th, i can hear a psssstttt noise.....any idea of what it could be? anyone else have this problem??? thanks.

btw: it's a L.S with 172xxx km on it.

it could be your slave and master cylinder. it could be just the fluid leve. it could be you broke the clutch. When a piece breaks off the clutch it will sometimes get stuck between the pressure plate and disc and makes it so you cant get into gear. Since the clutch spins around it will dislodge the piece and all of a sudden you can get it into gear again. You can also roll your windows down and listen for any chattering or abnormal spinning noises as an indicator.

Same exact thing happened to me. the only way i could get the car in gear was to shut the car off, put it in first gear and then I had a hell of a time shifting into second. i replaced the clutch and when I was in the tranny, i found the broken piece. It was stuck in the clutch disc and was making contact with the flywheel bolts. basically, that little piece was the only thing engaging and disengaging. No wonder I had such bad clutch chatter

i recommend getting a manual transmission flush, change the filter, change the gear oil
or just simply try added clutch fluid, it might be low, therefore when trying to engage the clutch, it might not work fully even if the pedal is on the floor
