What size tire will fit my rims?
I am looking at buying some new wheels off of Ebay, They are 17x7.5 rotas. I'm kinda new at this and I was wondering what size tires would fit them.
Thanks
Thanks
The Wheels do fit my car, as in Lug pattern. Offset or whatnot they should be fine, My car hasnt been lowered or anything.

aight thanks, I will look into them. Since I'm in the mood to ask questions, who makes the best tires in your opinion? or in anyone's opinion. I need relatively cheap but high quality tires.
kumho has great tread design, but wears out quickly when driven hard. I've had those before, but after one and a half summer they are bald already.
yokohomas are pretty great, from price to design to compounds used. I am using A520 series now, got them for a good price and this year will be my 4th summer on those, still have tread left....

http://www.tires.com can help you decide what sizes will fit, even a 17"x7" or your 17"x7.5" rims can fit a 225/45R17 tyres, i did some research on TireRack.com & saw that the wheels after mounting will be the same size as the OEM 15"
what tire size would be your guys choice for a 6.5" wide rim? 205? Do you think 225 would be too big?

You would probably have a hard time getting 225's under the car. I bought some prelude wheels not to long ago that had 225/50 tires on them. Problem was the tires were all over the suspension. I guess i should add that my suspension is stock.
I'll go back to the original 205/55 tire size once i scrounge up some money for a set of yokohama AVS ES100's.
What if you added wheel spacers. Would that push the 225 tire out far enough to clear the suspension and still clear the out fender lip?
This is the tire I was planning on buying in the 225/50/15 size. Where did you see them in the 205/55/15 size? The closest size I saw was 205/50/15 and that would be to small of a diameter. Also, what do you guys think of these tires? Good or bad? Thanks.
sorry about that, you're right there isn't a 205-55. I don't think the diameter of a 205-50 would be too small, but then again I could be wrong. As for the AVS ES 100 my brother has them on his GSR, he loves them, I like 'em a lot too. Turn in is quick and the tires have a lot of grip, but they give a nice ride too. Wet traction is also great as with the wear characteristics so far. I recomend them, i'll get at least one set of them either on the prelude wheels or my stock wheels.

I think I'm going to design and make some spacers for my car. I can probably get my boss to let me come in on a weekend a use some of the machines for a little while. That way I can get the ES100's and not have to worry about clearence issues.
Kumho is really cheap and I have had mine on since july with no problems, they have, quite possibly the best traction for the dollar ( mine were only about $100 apiece from tire-rack, shipped) 215/45/17 which is THE cheapest I have found. but On the next round I will go for some more sport-touring style tires b/c the wear on these tires seems insane

Do the stock wheels weigh more or less than "better looking wheels"
And whats the main advantage to wider and larger "better looking wheels".
Just wondering.

I wouldn't run spacers though. I ran spacers on my jetta and I had an issue with the lugnuts coming loose cuz the 1/8" spacers were taking up too much valuable wheel stud space. Other people have had problems with spacers as well. Spacers are deemed unsafe and illegal where I live, but Pep Boys still sells them for some reason.
"better looking wheels" that's a matter of opinion. Weight depends on the wheels that you are comparing. For example: 94-95 ex alloys weigh 16.5lbs and aftermarket wheels weigh anywhere from 10lbs to 30lbs, depending on size, width, material and style. Wider wheels give more traction/grip, bigger wheels give less resistance in cornering. Peace.

So even though my stock wheels may weigh less, the larger, say 17 in, will give me better handling, but lower my top speed?? or decrease acceleration??
