i think you mean stock shocks...anyway, youre really shortchanging your handling if you dont get shocks as well, furthermore, if you got neuspeed race, i wouldnt be too surprised if you blew a shock within a couple months.
Your stock shocks will last you awhile. ALthough you should replace them with say some KONI YELLOW adjustables if you have the money. I have a 94 LS and it's dropped 2.5F and 2.25R , been lowered for about 1 yr now and my shocks still are holding out....
yes. the type r caps are a little lighter and should provide a boost in performance. i would also leave your stock springs with your new neuspeed springs...they should compliment each other....
ok, i'm done being a dick, i just couldn't resist.
first off, i think you meant to write shocks in your post based on the title. If so, i would go with some Bilstein or koni adjustables...unless you are some autocross queen get the bilsteins and forget about it. don't put the springs in without the new shocks, they'll blow the stock shocks in less than a week (if you drive hard).
secondly, there is no such thing as itr (type r) centercaps. you can ones that say "H" or "A" in various colors but that is about it. You should be able to interchange these without a problem.
Good luck Newb!

anyone got something posittive to say about keeping my stock shocks cause i am broke and i dont want to pay for shocks. also how will my stock shocks blow. cause my friends accord never blew his shocks and he had it lowered for over 2 years.
they prob were blown and he didn't notice. i had my car only lowered by 1in (H&R OE Sport) and they blew my stock 50k shocks in 1 week. The car would bounce like crazy, and the rears were leaking fluid.
Your stock shocks cannot handle a tighter spring. these people that tell you its ok with stock shocks for a bit is bullshit...save your $ and do it right.

im positive they are neuspeed springs cause he still has the box. also yes they are blue but a light blue not dark. also how come his shocks never blew out. and how come my friends shocks on his gsr are still perfect and he has had his car lowered for almost two years.
I have H&R race springs, there suppose to be 2f 1.75r but they seem to keep getting a little lower as time goes on,I have tokico blues which are OEM quality in my opionion cant handle it,the rear seems fine, but the front bounces all over the place.I suggest good shocks,I think these blew in about a week with the H&R's.And my inner fender plastic skirts are getting all chewed up from the rubbage.

alright well if i dont put new shocks on and they blow what will happen to my car other than bouncing and alittle tire rub. any real damage
shocks degrade gradually over time.. you might not notice the shock degrading or being blown until its fully blown.. then the car will bounce and hop all over the place, handle like crap and maybe cause excessive tire wear... you could probably roll around for a little while on stock shocks if your really poor and don't have the funds but if you can.. just do both the springs and shocks at the same time...
I work weekdays.. and weekends are the only time I have to myself.. so I'd rather do it all at once.. than have to do it twice.... dunno about you...
I would just go ahead and replace the shocks at the same time because the exact same labor is involved to put in new springs onto the old stock shocks... as the labor to put in new springs and new shocks.... I went w/ Koni adjustable Sport/Yellows on my car along w/ Eibach sportlines and my car handled great IMO... I also had rims and sway bars...
anyway rather than doing the same procedure twice (once to put in the springs.. again to put in new shocks later) I would save yourself the time (if your doing it yourself)... or the time AND money (if your paying a shop) and do it all at once.. then you get the benefit of the aftermarket performance shock and spring together and don't have to worry about doing the install/labor again for a while...
I went w/ Koni yellows.. they were about $550 shipped/taxed (this was over 3 yrs ago)... didn't have any problems w/ them and the car handled like it was on rails...

If you can afford em, get Koni Yellows, nuf said!
I have Koni Yellows with H&R Race springs, and its a real quality strong setup. It can take Irish roads which is no mean achievement with the state of our roads. -Check the pic in my sig for my car - tho that was with other springs, its slightly higher at the front now with the H&R's, only by 10mm tho.
Dropped Bout 55mm at both ends (the H&R's are designed for your 1.6 Engines, wheres the base Civic in Europe was a 1.4 so its lighter and hence the front doesnt sit much lower than the rear.)
But definitely, the Koni's cost me the equive of about $600 but are the best purchase Ive made for my car.

"my stock shocks are fine after 15THOUSAND miles and a 2.25' drop all around. just because something happens to your car doesn't mean that that is the general rule for everyone to follow."
Yeah, i don't understand that. I mean, many mechanics have told me that the stock gsr shocks are basically blown after 30-50k of aggressive driving with the stock suspension. Either you drive on perfectly flat surfaces or don't realize that you're car is bouncing around...Go for a ride in a well-dampened vehicle and you will notice a big difference when you get back in your ride.

That makes sense. They are brand new. Yeah, lowered more than 2in definitely plan on getting some newer shocks by 25k-30k. Also, even if you changed your shocks out tomorrow with a good replacement, it would ride better...thats is all i meant.

yea, i really was clueless when i bought the car. i put the springs on it the second day i had the car.. those springs are like "oem" to me. but so far, the ride has been excellent. i'm sure the ride will be 10x better once i get the yellows.
