So This Is What My Comptech B-Pipe Looked Like After I Took It Out
This pipe was almost 5 years old. I put the stock b-pipe back in. Still have the Comptech axle back muffler though.
You can see where I had a couple of other cracks previously welded also.

Interesting...I have heard several complaints about the B-pipes of the comptech exaust. Did it ever make a rattling noise?

Back in the day Comptech offered two types of exhaust.
aluminized steel and stainless.
you got the first type, they have since moved to full stainless on all their systems.
Damn, what a HUGE bottleneck!

BUT, your OEM b-pipe flanges, muffler will start to rust after so many years as well.
We took a look at Jeff's (Pyromaster) cat off his 2.5yr old R. Damn bolts were all rusted and seized and areas under b-pipe were slowly rusting. And, we don't get snow or salt on the road.
After seeing this, I use some leftover BBQ spray paint (1000 deg F) and coated my b-pipe & muffler.

I'm taking my exhaust apart this weekend to install new cat/header and remove some very annoying heat shields. I'll post pics of how the Comptech held up to 2 years of Chicago abuse.

I'll buy another aftermarket cat-back before that starts to happen. The OEM b-pipe has less than 5K miles worth of use on it. **** looks brand new.

Nate, yours is starting to do the same thing, I remember from when we were trying to get off the cat/bpipe a few months ago. Not nearly as bad as the above pic, though....
Bring it to the Expo and see what Comptech has to say...maybe they will help you out.

ITR b-pipe is stainless steel.
the bolts at the cat flange will rust though because the cat is not stainless.
my 6 year old integra b-pipe is still good and functioning quite well on my
mother's LS integra since her stock b-pipe fell off due to rust.

After 5 years of use I doubt anyone would say much. Pat you on the back and maybe offer you a discount on a new one.

I'll probably end up going with Comptech again cause I really like the sound of their systems, and I'm sure a SS system will last alot longer.
