how about H-T randomly selects a Type R member or we select the member and everyone on or in the H-T or ITR forum can paypal them like $2 or something.

after the month is over that person takes all of that money (whatever it is) and they buy a mod. Take numerous pics before, during, and after install, and give a write up on the product?

we can have a pre selected item or whatever.....

$2 is nothing, but with everyone together that would be some serious cash for one person to get a mod.....

we can do it every month???????

yeah getting free money is a cool idea, and if you are serious about something like this, how do you go about choosing this lucky person? obviously it should go to someone that actually NEEDS it and cant afford to mod or tune their car on their own. But, how do you actually determine who NEEDS it the most? anyone could lie and say they dont have money and need it more than the next person. And then whats to guarantee the person would actually use the money properly? something like this could get kinda ugly.

we could set up a paypal account run by a moderator (someone people trust) and at the end of the month the money will be sent to the person (it will be known how much they got).

as far as who needs it..... can't really know.

we will just randomly select someone.

it might be someone who already has a bunch of stuff and they should turn it down for someone who needs it more.

or we can randomly select a person and a store to be represented and all the money will go to the store and at the end of the month the store will send out whatever product that person wants....

 

I mean I like the idea, it could really help someone out. I just dont like that fact that it could turn out like when a multi-millionaire wins the lottery. the person doesnt need the money but takes it anyway when there are other people out there that need it deserately. that always pisses me off and I dont even play the lottery.

 

how about everyone puts in $25 for the year and then 12 people are selected at random along with 12 import stores or shops and all 12 can have a competition to see who gets the most out of they money.....

there is no way to stop rich people from winning.... it isn't fare to not let them participate.

hopefully if someone who doesn't need the money wins they would just put the money back into the pot and the next months winner gets twice as much....

 

I'll randomly select 10 ITR members and those 10 can post why they should get the money and then we'll have H-T vote on who should win....

i hear you. its a good thing to do, kinda like donating my $2 to charity instead of wasting it on crap. I guess we shall see what happens and hopefully other people will start to respond with their ideas and comments.

to select the store.... they can give price quotes on things that those 10 finalists need. The prices can be averaged and the lowest wins!

This way the winner gets a fare shot at getting the lowest price.

I guess whoever runs the Type R forum can set up a paypal account for this forum so everyone can see exactly how much is in the pot.

If we really set this up right I think it could be a lot of fun and really good for a lot of people.

you'll learn, get good reviews, help people who might not be able to get stuff otherwise.

obviously the people that win will need to spend all the money on mods and give great write ups and pics.

if they do have any money left over they will have to put it back into the pot.


to the moderators of this forum I think if we are going to set anything up we'll need your help so nobody thinks they're getting screwed over.

should we have any kind of limit on who is eligable to be in the drawing?? ie, should n00bs with 1 or 2 posts be considered? or should we limit it by post counts, and people who are regulars on HT(500 posts or more??) be the only ones considered?

also, what happens if we dont like what the winner buys? such as APC products or tire flies? how will we regulate that? maybe we should say you can only buy from certain shops and can only buy certain catagories of parts, like exhausts, manifolds, interior/exterior pieces, suspension, wheels, and thats it. you cant buy things like sp00m shirts or resevior covers or whatever unless you have money left over from the main purchase? i dunno Im just throwing **** out there.

Sound like a great idea. Also.... in help of selection somebody. How bout we start with the people who have stock Type-R's. That way even they can have a mod or two. There are not many people on here with stock ITR's so this would minimize the number greatly. Ane once they have enough mods then move on.

Im sure this could be worked out but its a great idea. Just need some sort of guidlines. I am sure some people can participate.

Some kind of point system would also be pretty koool.

Just make it a raffle of people who threw in. You want to play, you do. If not, you don't. That solves a bunch of the problems.

 

I don't think anyone should 'randomly' select 10 members. A computer can randomly pick much more 'randomly' than any H-T member. People play favorites, computers (at least in 2003) just do what they are told. Good programming owns you.

 

IMO, if you own an ITR, and can't afford to do your own mods, you probably shouldn't own it in the first place.

This basically sounds like a raffle to me, which would require a permit from either the city/state/county.

 

..or just make it a real lotto, and base it off of lotto numbers from say, powerball. everybody gets a "ticket" for every $1 they put in. day before lotto #'s get picked, thread is locked w/ everybodies #'s... could be feasable, although you'd have to find someone trustworthy and willing enough to participate.
