Installing Toda cam gears, should I use the bolts that came with the gears or the factory bolts?
I am going to be installing Toda cam gears with my stock ITR cams....should I use the bolts that came with the cam gears or should I use the factory bolts..or does it even matter..
I don't think it matters. My spoon gen 2 didn't even come with them but then my spoon gen 1 did.

Dont lose the cam gear setting sheet they give you either (its all in Kanji anway) but the diagram's are pretty self explanitory. Can you imagine "Spoon" doesnt supply those bolts with their gears (which we know are Toda's) Guess if you buy "Spoon" cam gears you gotta pay for the "Spoon" cam bolts seperately

Pretty sure that the stock bolts will rub your valvecover, I'll see if I can find an old thread. BTW, bolts w/ Toda camgears are 17mm, stock are 14mm.
.....just use the toda bolts.
But you might want to replace the little allen-head bolts for adjustment.....

spoon doesnt supply bolts because they dont need them. Didnt notice that the
design was slightly different did you??

spoon gears have a recess in the face so that the stock bolts will work with no problems.
OT: Have you noticed the Toda's cam key to cam fitment being off at all? When I installed the cam gears back on the cams the fit was a little tight...wondering if my batch was machined a little differently or if this is common?
they are the same price from what i see, actually spoon is cheaper here.
plus because you canuse stock bolts its less to worry about. either way they
are the same gear prettymuch.
ive had both spoon and toda gears have a slightly tight fit. nothing terrible though

what do you guys mean by the Toda gears being "a tight fit"?

The when you put the woodruff key, gear, and cam together it is a tight fit meaning it won't just all slide together easily.
I hit the key area of the cam with a little emory cloth and then put a drop of oil on the key itself. Got everything lined up and then use the bolt to bring it all together.
I beleive the problem is worse when you have a brand new, lets say Toda, cam.
