Many GS-R problems......this time its my crankshaft
It seems when i think my car is ok mechanically something really fucked up happends......lets see the major things so far have been My brakes failed and started grinding (with out the squeak) had to replace front and back rotors and all.......next was my trannie it when out and cost me $1700 to fix and after that i thought nothing else would happen....i thought to my myself that at least my engine was cool but yesterday my crankshaft pully got loose and with no notice basically raped my crankshaft....the Acura guy i went to said he has never heard of this from a GS-R, he said he sees it in Mitsubishis all the time....so its getting fixed now its gonna cost an arm and a leg and im ****** pissed.......
Damn - how did the crankshaft pulley get loose? From what I hear, the crankshaft pulley bolt is one of the hardest things to get off the car since they are usually stuck on there REALLY good. I know a guy with a VW GTI that had his pulley come loose and did the same thing - fucked up the actual crank.
Hang in there though, I know how frustratin it can be.
Sometimes I wonder where all that legendary Honda reliability has gone........

**** acura/honda get a vw beetle, or a half egg on wheels.....lol
I wonder what this gsr's milage is, service history, etc, and how it is driven. I really doubt it just broke for the heck of it.

Whatever, VW's are about the worst cars you can get. one electrical prob after another, etc.

If my crank got jacked up, i'd probably just get a replacement block and not worry about anything else that might go wrong with it especially bearing clearances etc. Hey maybe its a good time for B20 vtec? I know it would be a lot cheaper thats for sure.
I thought the way it was threaded, the bolt actually got tighter as you drove the car because of the direction that the crank turns.?
same thing almost happened to me. Did you have a water pump or anything belt driven replaced lately (even timing belt)? I had my water pump replaced, and the guy didn't torque the belt down enough. After a few weeks, but pulley worked itself loose and shot off. Luckily it didn't damage anything, so I just had to get it put back on. You weren't as lucky obviously. Good luck.
btw... that should have only cost me as much as putting the pulley back on, but while it was sitting at one shop, one of the ****ing mechanics stole my ECU!!!

a 94 GS-R with 100,324 miles i think the previous owner fucked me over
btw: Im getting a new timing belt, pulleys, pulley belts, water pump, and they are gonna machine my crankshaft

Sorry for your problems bro. That kind of problem with crank pulleys is rare with a Honda motor. Mitsus have a rep for suffering from crank walk. How did a tranny problem cost you $1700?!?
