Default b series tranny part 2

in respose to the previous post,
We all know the best tranny for a d series in most n/a setups is the zc with si final drive,

i was thinking since my ys1 (ls) has a hole in the casing (too low ) i need a new tranny, i want a tranny with decent off the line gearing but not one that sitss at 4200 at 60mph in 5th, does any one know of a good hybrid setup, like whats say a y1 with ls final drive?
my ultimate goal is to gain better low end speed (damb slow ls) but decent highway gearing, and i have a ys1 (ls) at my disposal so what u guys think?

90-91 integras tranny are compatible with jdm b16 89-91 trannys to swap out gears ect , you could go with b16 tranny with a american ls 5 gear for gas mileage

or you could go with a 92-93 gsr ys1 tranny ( very rare came out of the b17a tranny great tranny not cheap)

or you could go with 92-93 ls ys1 buy all itr gears and use a gsr 5 gears parts are around 400-500 plus labor , but this is a great setup i here itr gearing in a cable tranny
good luck

S1 or J1 with the 5th gear from your old tranny. Also try and find a lsd if you can. Ryan

PS, I have the J1, its very quick off the line.

not hard at all, on a JDM s1, j1, y1, ys1. split the case, pull the mainshaft bearing of the top and slip the new gear. on the countershaft, you'll have to loosen the nut to get to the gear. once you replace the old gears with the new ones, and look up the countershaft, all you have to do is seal the case and you're done. same thing on the us trannys, except that on the ys1 you'll need to line up the ring on the mainshaft with the key on the case! good luck!

have you confirmed this on your own? have you rebuild a jdm tranny with usdm parts?

or you could go with 92-93 ls ys1 buy all itr gears and use a gsr 5 gears parts are around 400-500 plus labor , but this is a great setup i here itr gearing in a cable tranny

that would give you the same gearing that a jdm s1 or j1 will, and it will cost twice as much as getting a s1, j1!
