Default Yet another "What's this noise? thread.

Hello all,

I have a 1994 Integra GSR with 152000 miles on it. It has been a fantastic car to date, the only thing that I have had to do is replace the brake accumulator. I'm still on the original clutch!

Anyways I have developed a noise that has been bothering me as to its source.

The noise happens from 3100 to 3900 RPM regardless of gear, moving or idle. The noise accelerates in frequency as I move up in RPM. At 3900 RPM the noise dissapears completly but will reoccur on the way down. My Dad said it sounded like an exhaust leak but I don't have a clue.

Anyone have any ideas? How could I try and track it down?

An exhaust leak would sound like a wistle or a high pitched noise. Easiest way to find out is to drive it and tap the gas and if you hear the sound that would be and exhaust leak. That is my experiances.

my exhaust (b-pipe i think) rattles too, a lot of other GSR's do the same thing through the same RPM's. i've welded all the heat shields and **** like that but it's still rattling somewhere...

just keep it high in the revs!

I think the noise is coming from the engine compartment though, its not a tailpipe rattling or anything....

a lot of integras like they said have that pobrlem, its almost always the header heatshiled, like mine, or shiled over your cat. if it sounds like it ocming from the engine then it is porbably your headers heat shiled. people always get them welded or tightend but they come undone, i think the onyl real way to get it fixed it new/aftermarket header.

a search would be one solution to that problem, getting a new header would be another one.
