Default too many tegs being stolen....

a few months ago a friend put a alarm system on my car that i bought. its not the best alarm in the world but hey it works for me. my friend cut the cranking wire in my ignition so that my car wont start using a key when the alarm is on. is this really effective against car theives? or is there a way to get past that and still get the car to start? can my car be "hot-wired" even though the crank wire is cut?...well anyways i use a autolock too

Any thief who is both A) a professional who knows what he or she is doing and B)wants your car bad enough, will get it. All we can do as Integra enthusiasts is put on a good alarm system and use other means of protection. The auto lock is a good idea. Also, you should make it a point to only park in well lit "safe" places.

Add a kill switch to the fuel pump.

I have thought about it as well. Here's a link

http://www.lojack.com/

What about a lock or a coller of some kind around the steering column?

LoJack is not a standard item when buying a new car (integra atleast) did they give you a LoJack card?? if no, i'd open a can of whoop *** on the guy who sold you the car!

ok does anyone know the price of the unit with install?

i only found the fees to have it running after you have the unit:

One-time fee: $250.00*
Annual fee: $115.00
Monthly fee: $9.95

one time fee: is for however long you have the vehicle

I thought our cars came stock with engine kill switches on the factory alarm?

In my case it is at least. Funny story, we haven't used the alarm for a while because the remote is all jacked up, but our oldest son was playing with it one day and set the alarm. We didn't know it and te car wouldn't start so off to the dealer it went. The dumbasses there said the starter was bad and wanted to replace it. Rather than let them charge me for it, I replaced the starter myself and still no go. WTF! So I hotwired the starter and the car started right up. Drove around for a few days hotwiring the starter until I saw the remote laying out and went and played with it. Sure enough it started up perfectly after that. Went back to the dealer and screamed until they refunded my "diagnosis" money.

But yeah, if a professional thief wants your car, there isn't much that's going to stop him/her.

If you drive a stick you can always compression start the car by pushing it, no need for a starter. I also argue that you do not need to use the foot brake to drive a car away stolen, just use the hand brake and drive slow.

Anyone have an auto lock? the kind that clamps the petals? I was thinking about it but it seems like it wouldnt fit cause of the small area underneath the dash.

actually, i could't find any price quotes on the site. 250 isn't so bad. i actually went to a dealership and asked about it. i was rudely rejected saying that i should talk to the company and they can do home installations. but i dunno, the sales rep seemed like he didn't get commission off lo jack sales.

I don't understand how people can just "tow" any car alway without the toll truck guy being slighty suspicious or no one seeing.

crank wire relays and kill switches dont stop flatbed towtrucks. Do you know how many Type Rs have been stolen with kick *** alarms that never go off and their owners wake up and only find 2 tire stripes on the asphault where their car was??? If they want it, they will get it, unless you have a garage and take the wheels off every night.
