Is it illegal to take out the third brake light in CA?

Im sure if it is illegal to do it here in OH that it is illegal in CA

so what about GSR owners who switch to the ITR wing?? since our 3rd light is in the stock wing
is it possible to get a ticket for it?
-Sergio, who will probably do it anyway since he's already driving with no front plate

I saw a jdm rear hatch for sale and it doesn't have a rear brake light.

...which is one of the whys the window is swapped out for any imported jdm itrs

For some magical reason...my R never had one...so I put my XM Sattelite radio antenna in its place....

Soup **** is right. I called a local police department to confirm this.

If you dont want tickets then keep the thrid brake light.

If you were to get rear ended, not having a third brake light will surely screw your insurance claim up.

Why do you need to swap out the rear window for imported JDM ITRs?-Unless you want the rear wiper

Did you buy your R new? If so, dealer replaced your rear glass, and interior hatch panels with one from a GsR.

AFAIK-All ITRs rear glass has holes for the third brake light, JDM and 1997 ITRs have no hole for the rear windshield wiper.

I havent been in a bad rear end collision, but have been hit from behind(and have a third brake light), but not all cars have the third brake light and that does not automatically make someone a magnet for being rear-ended for not having one.

i think its mandatory in all states or at least in lots.. after a certain year all cars required a 3rd brake light.. (i think i learned that in drivers ed.)
