you have to take the assembly out.. and either

1) hammer it out (not recommended)
2) get it pressed out (midas does it.. not too sure how much it cost)

your best bet is to get it pressed out so you dont demage anything.

you SHOULD take the assembly out, i didnt. from what i remember i just hammered it out, the grinded a flat spot on on part of the back to clear, and just put the new one in...that was 2 years ago.

Was this on the front wheel? I once broke one, it was not fun replacing it either. I HAD to remove the whole hub/knuckle assembly. I had a friend press it out and install new ones. Removing the assembly was the pain though, and from my perspective, there was no way to bang the old stud out with a hammer. Mine was even broken, and it would not fit out the backside of the hub.

I know integras and civics can get away with banging them out, but I had no luck. Even the ITR's can apparentlly be banged out, which is surprising because we share the same braking system.

i just changed my front ones, put extended studs in. taking off the knuckle wasnt actually that bad because i was also change brake lines, brake pads, struts, and rotors. the bottem 2 ball joints were pretty hard to get sparated but once that was off its pretty easy to get the knuckle off. take the knuckle to a shop and have it pressed. saves money just taking them the knuckle. cost me $5 to get all 10 changed.
