Questions for the Integra owners
Hi,
Right now I own a 99 Civic and it's cool but lacking power. So I was considering a swap but after looking at the total cost it's cheaper to buy a GSR. I seen a few GSR's in my area selling around blue book and wanted to find out more information about them.
Seems like the Integra is the most stolen Honda, any way to lessen the risk? I was thinking of debadging the car and adding security options.
Thanks
Rob

You can always do things do deter theft. For example, the power door lock switch on an Integra can be triggered while standing outside with just a coat hanger. To fix it, all you have to do is get RS doorhandles (RS didnt have power door locks), and relocate the switch. Usually people put it on the console by the e-brake because there are 4 (3 if you are lucky enough to have foglights) empty spaces for a switch.
A few other things are a fuel cutoff switch hidden somewhere, and an alarm. The bottom line is that if a thief really wants your car, they will get it. Wether it be by hotwiring it, or with a towtruck.
Unfortunatley, living in California you're at an even higher risk than most everyone else. Seems like every "My car got stolen last night post" is from someone in California or New Jersey... but maybe thats just me.

The pain that is owning a modified honda. I had a 99 EX with a greddy turbo and I loved that thing to death. It got stolen and stripped down. You just have to plan for the worst and wish for the best because there's no way of really protecting a car from theft, you can only make it harder for the theif. I have a 97 gsr now and it performs about the same as my turbo'd civic, but has much more potential. If you are going to swap, i would just go buy a used teg. Whatever your choice, just work within your means and you'll be a lot happier.
cheaper to get a gsr??? gsr engines are like 3800-4000 if u find gsr for that price it must have a grip load of miles on it ur better off getting the engine plus u will go faster w/a b18 powered civic

Do you think de-badging will prevent someone from recognizing that its an Integra??

i say go for the swap, the prices would be relativly the same but the b18 civic would be faster .And if u find a 99 and up gsr engine from america it would be perfectly legal

Dood get the GSR. I was deciding upon a civic ex and the gsr. I always wanted a GSR. Besides from what I was told, it will cost you more to upgrade a civic to handle as well as a GSR then to just go buy a GSR. Hell I bought it so I didnt have to do anything to the car and have it all there already. Besides, GSR has better resale value. Someone is gonna pay mroe for a stock GSR than a highly modded civic no matter how much you sunk into it. Besides, I see more civics out there than GSRs. (although I am terrified my car will not be there one day when I go into the parking lot)
Having driven both the gsr is a much better quality car, it just feels better driving its also a lot faster and better handling stock. It depends on how much money you have and how modified your civic is already. Hatch can be nice but it takes a ton of money to make it equally as nice as a gsr. I was in the same position awhile ago and I decided to go with the gsr cause I wouldnt have a lot of money to put into the hatch right away and rolling it stock would have sucked. Rolling a stock gsr however is a lot of fun. a gsr hatch would be fun but I dont think it would be fun with gsr motor and everything else stock. you would at least need good suspension to go with it. hope that helps.
get the GSR, the weight difference between the civic with a GSR swap and a GSR is not that great. Also the integra will have a higher resale value later on.
