Type R shocks?
I might pick up some used type R springs for my GSR..so I can get my type R sway bar on.
I was wondering if they Type R shocks have the same damping stiffness, or whatever its called, I know the back needs ITR LCAs...Just wondering if stock GSR shocks can handle type R springs.
Thanks again.

Well, the ITR shocks were supposed to be just a little stiffer, and maybe the stroke was just a bit shorter (because the car came about 15 mm lower than a GSR).
That being said the stock ITR springs are not that terribly stiff so I'd think you should be ok (Itr springs on GSR shocks).

No problem. :coffee cup:
Just re-read your first post.
If you get ITR LCA's then your GSR shocks won't fit ... I'm pretty sure.
I've still got my OEM ITR shocks which you can have for like $50 plus shipping if your interested.
They do have about 85K highway miles on them, but they're just taking up space and I was going to just pitch them soon. Ed

You have springs too? I dont need the shocks, seeing how the rears wont fit on my car, and would be a waste of money.
Sure .. springs only can be had.
I'll have to check back at my Mom's and make sure they are the stock ones.
The shocks and springs are all in the same (heavy) box and I haven't really opened it up recently.
You might even luck out and I'll find out they are an old set of Eibach's or something.
I hope to be back that way this weekend, so I'll let you know afterwards. Ed

I putting on the the ITR spring but went ahead and got me the Koni yellows...should have asked but I figure that you can't go wrong with the konis.
just to be clear, you dont need different (type R shock or springs) to run the Type R sway bar. it works fine with a beaks mounting kit and all parts. The type R shocks and springs will just drop you 1.5" and make it stiffer. from your first post, i didnt know if you realized this.
I'm sure he knows this. And, it's more like .75" to .8", not 1.5"

My car is now a ******* 4x4 with ITR springs. Def. not a 1.5" drop.
-Dave, who likes the caddy-like ride (compared to old setup) but the height..
When running on stock gsr springs, you take a risk of subframe tear out, with out without a mounting kit. The added strees of the bar, and weak springs, puts the stress on the subframe. When you add springs with a high spring rate, in this case, type r springs were made to work with the type r sway bar. The springs take out some more of that strees off the subframe

Not to say that I will tear it out. I just wont take chances
