Default I think I've figured out the best drop-in NA cams for the H22A.

Rather than get good sleep I stayed up later tonite researching camshaft specs for the H22A. My conclusion has become as so for the following setups:

1. Best camshafts for an otherwise internally stock or near stock motor:

-Crower Stage 2 or Skunk2 Stage I

Both of these camshaft designs are still much better than stock and in proper tune should yeild very noticable gains and work great with stock compression. Also they are not "too" aggressive in that I feel they can be ran for long periods of time and are friendly in upholding Honda's known motor longevity and reliability...this is the key factor here.

Type-S cams do actually have some decent increase in lift, but I cannot find duration numbers on them. I am not going to recommend them though as it seems they have been designed with ramp angles made for Type-S heads only. If this is indeed the case then I don't know how much wear is going to go on in a stock USDM head.

I feel with an otherwise stock head and bottom end, either of these cams in good tune should be good for at least 190 whp in an OBDI environment and including all other bolt-ons, cam gears, FPR and a V-AFC or standalone.

I did some research a bit ago and found out that the Crower 3's are almost identical to JUN 3's. Just thought I'd let everyone know that.

"as it seems they have been designed with ramp angles made for Type-S heads only" , With this in mind and using a usdm head this may not seem reliable for us, But what about a JDM H22, I would imagine the type-s cams would be more sutable for a JDM rather usdm?

sounds interesting, im wondering if this could be the reason my valves seem to be tapping slightly, i have a jdm h22 with type s cams and no matter how i adjust the valve lashes they still seem to tap slightly. i dont know if it has anything to do with this or not but its a possibility. anyone using type s cams experiencing this problem?

crowers are cheaper...and I did consider them but, I have heard of and seen to many of them breaking, not in H, but B-series motors.

I would pay the extra cash and go w/skunk 2's just to be safe...

You might also want to look @ef-1 cams...(formerly known as HondaSaver.)
those are the cams I am going to end up getting....

If I get cams that is...(decisions, decisions.)

JDM or USDM head doesnt matter if it's not Type-S. The Type-S had reworked valve angles and valve seats which is why some people determine that the cams will not work well with any head besides the Type-S.
