My friend just got a car and found out it was wrecked? any other things you notice?
My friend just bought a SSBP GS-R and wasn't told it had ever been wrecked, iw as looking it over tonight and the drivers side fender has been replaced (no vin sticker, and you can feel the line on the inside where it had been painted.)
She was also told it hadn't been modified other than the intake. I'm posting a pic of it to see if y'all can spot anything other than the intake, and the incorrect ground as telltale signs of previous mods?
thanks guys.

incorrect ground comes like that from the factory so its not technically incorrect. check all the other body panels ot make sure they have the VIN stickers. was the other person the original owner? if not, they might not have known the fender/side was repainted.
Do a compression test ASAP.

oh and check to see if any bolts have been rounded off/tampered with. Like exhaust bolts, heat shield / header bolts, etc.

There is one on the front bumper. Take all the screws out of the top that hold the black thing onto the bumper and the VIN number is under there

The ground comes RIGHT. Someone must have moved yours.
Since the ground is wrong there are a few posibilities:
1) There were cams installed
2) maintanence such as valve adjustment was done
3) someone thought they would "fix" it.

a friend of mine bought a GSR (same color) last year. after we got the car home and started looking at it, we found out someone had installed a turbo kit on the car before, the front bumper had been cut for an intercooler and the wiring harness had been hacked into. you just find some weird **** sometimes.
where the distributor bolt is....it looks like there is a red mark (from the factory it has the same mark but it is green) like the distributor might have been moved before...or the bolt was taken out and they marked it incase it moved when installing some cams.
there is no adjustable cam gears under that valve cover is there?

Couple other things just to check for over the rest of the car if you do get really curious...
Check behind the plastic in the hatch for unpainted 1/4 panels, welds, and look for welding slag on the windows.
Other things to check would be the condition of the struts if they are stock, as they may be a good indication as to if the car was lowered w/ stock struts. See if the previous owner has any service information as well.

Man John sorry to hear about that. Hopefully the compression will check out. If you need a compression guage just let me know.
