Default 90 LS to 96 Civic

I got a great deal on an entire 1990 Integra GS (free). I have a 1996 Civic DX which leaves much to be desired in the performance catagory. The obvious thing to do would be a motor swap but the only one I've been involved with was in my old car (1990 Civic and I put a 1991 JDM ZC in it). This swap was simple, pull out the old, drop in the new. The swap im faced with now is not so simple. Any help on what is required with this swap/where I can get parts cheapest/ how to do anything would be great. I am mechanically capable to perform it but I just need help with how. (Since I'm pretty sure that this situation has arisin before, a link to a helpful thread will also be greatly apprechiated.)

96 DX

PS My brakes are drum rear, disc front non ABS. This Teggy has ABS and discs, can I switch them?

1) Your Integra motor is OBD-0 I belive, your car is OBD-2...wiring here, not too hard.

2) Dropping in a motor older than your car, I've heard here on HT, is illegal.

3) You'll need to sell your B18A tranny (cable) and buy a B16A (2nd gen) or B18B/C tranny (hydro).

IMO drop it in, if you got paper work on the motor . You'll definitely like the torque and power increase.

As far as the brakes, can't do it. You need 96-00 Civic EX/Si or a 94-01 Integra set up.

good point. u should just sell the teggy if ur not gonna use it, and save up more money for an h-or b-series v-tec motor.

You can, but it's a lot of work. you need:
CKF cover
Si driver mount
rear mount
Hydro tranny
96 LS harness
96 LS ECU
96 Distributor
96 complete manifold

Ok, cheap-*** Yes. But I'm in high school and workin at Food Lion part time for $5.35 an hour, so don't bust my ***, I know it aint the best swap but it was free and I'm poor and was just lookin for a little assistance. Thanks.

Oh yeah: my old motor swap was illegal too. J-spec motors don't pass. Not too worried, I'll get my inspection sticker, one way or another. and I would like to put a v-tech head on it or have a v-tech motor all the way (ie. a newer gsr etc) but they don't give those away so I'm doin the best with what i was dealt.

Watch out for those v-techs, I've had a few that didn't work on me. Plug it in at the store and make sure there's dial tone before you take it home.

Maybe this will help, get an 96+ LS (B18B1) swap. It is pretty much the same motor, but it has a hydraulic transmission and an OBD-II ECU so it will be less work for you and it costs nearly the same as the B18A1.

Man people are kinda dicks calling you a cheap *** etc, etc. Hell you got the damn thing for free. . Anyways if the 90 runs and drives and looks decent I would put that thing up for sale and get what you can and get a 94+ B18b swap. You could use a OBD2-1 jumper if you get a 94-95 B18B swap. But yeah it is very possible to put the older B18A in your car but it will be alopt of work and not much gain in HP. I understand the not having money deal too bro trust me.
