Default H22a swap?

I am getting a H22a swap and the shop said they had to buy a crank sensor cause the JDM engines don't come with them and ours do. Has anyone herd of this?

i'm not quite sure about this one, considering the japanese, had more advanced, and cooler options on their ludes, i would look into this more, it kinda sounds a little fishy

I think if its a Pre-96 motor(OBD1). But then again I could be wrong.

You will need the cranksensor if you plan on running a US ecu. You will need more then the crank sensor. You will need the oil pump that holds the crank sensor. The 96 and up jdm engines do not come with cranksensors. You can bypass it by running a jdm ecu. It would work fine.

I am going to be running a US ECU. Is this going to read any different than the jdm ecu?

You can not run the us ecu because it reads crank trigger. Thats why u need to use a JDM ecu.

That is why they put on the crank sensor, so that the US ecu can read the sensor. Is he filling me full of smoke or is he right.

on US OBD1 cars the sensor is part of the distributor, on OBD2 cars it is on the crank. all he needs to do is swap over to a US OBD1 dizzy he should be fine. plus its a lot easier.
