Default New strange noise

Hey guys ive been having this new noise that i get when i first get going in first for the first time. Its almost like breaks but not as high pitched. Im pretty sure i have an oil leek somewhere. Do you guys think its something not getting enough oil? Also some mornings it low rpms i get this high pitched squeel that isnt too noticable but it only exists under 3k rpm. If anyone has any ideas about this id appreciate the help im a noob with my car still.

How about trying to narrow down the location? You want to have a friend listen from outside while you try to make the sound. Location of the sound will be misleading to you while you're sitting inside.

I've had brake pad wear indicators make funny noises, they don't always make the fingernails-on-chalkboard sound you'd expect. Or how about alternator/ps/ac drive belts?

I'm like 99% sure that it's your belts, I had a similar noise, went away at 3000 RPM at first, got worse after about a week in the freezing cold here. Just get a belt adjustment, or get them replaced.

New belts are about $10 each. Adjusting them is free if you do it yourself. It's really easy.

haha, yeah man I didn't mean timing belt, sorry. It's really cheap, and an adjustment was free for me at my dealer...my car's been off warranty since like 1998. Go get it checked out...
