Default 16's vs 17's

I currently have 16*7, 205/45/16 on my '92 civic. i am looking to buy new wheels, but it seems that 16's are getting hard to find, and everyone only sells 17's and up. my fenders are not rolled, and i do get a little rubbing only during sharp turns (like u turns). i am thinking about getting205/40/17's. I know that they are taller, but being lowered 1.5", i know lots of people who are lower with 17's and do not rub. do u think they will fit? how do i roll my fenders if i need to do that? thanks for the help.

They'll fit just fine, I had 17's on my car with eibach sportlines(2" drop) and they didnt rub unless the corner was really off balance and the wheels were totally locked.

I now have 16's, only thing I didnt like about my 17's was the weight and how disproportional they looked at some angles.

i am definately a fan of the 16...look nice on a honda - depending on the model of car you have though. I like 15's as well but they seem lost to me on some rides. 16's a pretty universal nice fit..I have had all of them and alhough 17 niver rubbed on me I liked the 16 better.

Ill send you apic of some kosei 16's i may be selling....gotta get your email from ya.
I'm guessing that the 17's are prolly cheaper cause not alot of people really want them right now cause the 15 craze. I dunno...I have some 17's w/ new nitto's I can hardly give away (have pics of them as well if you want)

The only thing that you need to consider beyond the rubbing factor, is the performance factor. Depending on the overall diameter (varies pretty widely depending on tire size) you stand to lose a lot of acceleration in going to seventeens. I went from 20.7" (175/75-r13) to 23.5" (205/40-r17) and FELT the difference. Each gear seems to last forever now. Alot of that is because of the 13's that I was used to, though. Just food for thought.
