Default JDM conversion ?uestion...chicagoland peeps especially

Got into a fender bender this weekend. I'll wait for the estimate but I
want to get the conversion. Anybody have the parts list? And what shop
can do this in the chicagoland area? and will do it right. And finally I'd like a place where i can order the whole kit. Does it come in metal only?
The driverside fender is shot. Part of the bumper is shot also. I'll post the pic later but this teg owner is pissed.
Any help from HT is appreciated. Thanks all

Ron

That looks like it could be repaired for around $400 instead of the ~$4000 for an OEM JDM conversion. In order for it to be "worth it" from an insurance perspective, usually both fenders, the bumper, the headlights, and the hood must need replacement.

agreed. you wont get enough from insurance to cover the conversion... unless you want to shell out your own $ to make up for the difference.

the oem jdm front end consists of sheet metal fenders and hood. you dontwant the cheapy imitations because fiberglass fenders crack due to the stress placed on them from daily driving.

as for buying the front end conversion, you can talk to leo (ITRinEJ)... his website is http://www.jdmspecperf.com - he is local and should be able to locate one for you.

that doesn't look like a $400 repair. the fender alone will cost about that much. i had some damage like that, a little less severe, and i was quoted $1400 at the most, but then again i'm in california.

we're looking at new bumper and new fender... it should be about $1000-$2000, still well under the cost for a full jdm front end conversion... for that to happen he needs to trash both fenders, front bumper, and hood. and possibly more with an accident of that magnitude you're usually looking at frame damage - which would change the way the car drives.

consider yourself lucky your accident was so minor - the car will most likely still drive ok. its just a matter of if you want to spend the extra $ on the front end conversion.

Im thinking it will need new wheel, tire also because it got scratched up pretty good, turn signal. the lip is just sratched up. But the driver side door got swiped also.
For now it drives fine. But who knows if there are some other damage the shop might find(alignment/suspension). I dont know. The hood seems ok.

thanks for the input

Yeah even with all the little glitches, i don't see an estimate too much over $1000 or so, which means with a $500 deductble, ins. is only giving you half. Not justifiable unless you're willing to spit out the extra cash for it yourself.
