Default grining in the gears???!!!!???

on occasion when shifting into reverse, from a dead stop at idle, with clutch fully in....a terrible grinding sound occurs like i am trying to shift without use of clutch....

also a few times while driving i will shift into 3rd or 5th and the same grind will happen.....whats up with this....also somtimes i need to press and release the clutch a second time before the engine will turn on.....

ust a note....i have aftermarket pedals....that have 1/2 inch screw ont he back would this half inch make a difference....????

pedals dont matter. transmission needs fixin. go to a shop. simply.

unless you know a lot about tranmissions...and you could fix your syncro problem... but i doubt it...

My old engine had the same problem, I swaped a B16 into it to fix it .

But its deff. the syncros. Tranny work is not to bad, just read up on it first.

Try a transmission fluid change. That may fix some or all of your problems. It nearly ceased all my grinds.

I was under the impression that this happens because Honda trannys don't have synchros for reverse. Try coming to a complete stop before shifting into reverse, that always works for me. Sometimes putting it into first (not ever letting the clutch out) before putting it into reverse helps.

This is tranny problems. Try a fluid change and if that's not it, it's the synchros.

There should be a little switch on where the clutch pedal connects, check the wiring on this and make sure its not loose. This switch reads whether or not the clutch is in, before you can start the car.

first off, what kind of tranny is it? second, try changing the fluid with MTF from the honda dealer...use 2 quarts if it's a B16 tranny. if not, then you might wanna get the tranny looked at which means = $$$...
could be bad synchros...from the way you described it...

My transmission did that just before the clutch went out.

I'd check out the fluids first make sure there toped off (clutch fluid, tranny fluid)
Also make sure you dont have a clutch master cylinder leak that could also be a cause of grindin or bleed your CMC.
Hope this helps a little
