Thinking of building a D15 for kicks and giggles.
Okay first I was told the iff I use the 86-89 Integra rods, pistons and crankshaft I would be able to do more high compression from that setup. I don't know that why I am asking you guys. I have like a free D15 block and I want to make good use of it. Do you think it would be worth it and then convert it into MPFI? Or go ahead with the ZC? Take into consideration that I already have the stuff to do the MPFI and a free D15 block. Oh and I am NOT going to use NOS or any other type of forced induction just strictly NA.

i think its cool what your doing. FYI theres a 10-second crx with an all-motor D15 around. its the fastest one i think. pretty impressive. id hate to get beat really badly by an all motor D15. i dont know the answer to your question, but i thought id give you this info, good luck.

my friend has a d 16 in his civic fully build bottom end custom manifold with a big turbo that is pushing close to 320 to the ground. so go for it. i had a zc stock int. that ran 13.2 107 mph witha 100 shot of nos. its nice to see people try new things tell me how it works out
for clarification, you want the 88-89 pistons, if you weren't aware. I say go for it, I have heard from a big D series all motor guru that the 1.5 has a great r/s ratio, still haven't found what it is though. I'm considering a build up silimar to what your thinking 'cause thats whats coming out of my car for my turbo D16a6.
assuming the rods are the same length as the a6 and knowing that the stroke is 84.5 its r/s ratio would come out to be 1.62 and the d16 is a measly 1.52, so there you have it. perfect r/s would be 80mm stroke and 140 mm rods. you'd end up with a displacement of 1413 cc then if you bored out to 80mm you'd end up with a 1.6l, and 81mm is the furthest you can bore them out, so not much room for error.

If you want to build a fast NA D15, get aquainted with the peeps on this board: http://dseries.org/ especially Bisimoto, he's the person reffered to above that's running 10 second 1/4s (i think it's something like 10.7). Keep in mind that he's also running somewhere around 20-1 C/R. not exactly pump-gas streetable. but the D15 has a lot of potential for a budget build-up.
I remember there was this one page where you could actually calculate what Compression Ratio you would get depending on what D series block, rods, or pistions you would use. I know if you use the D15 with Si Rods and D16z6 pistons you get like 13:1.
Yeah Bisi is the guy i was talking about. and the compression calculation page is http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/c...c/compcalc.php
thanks altoid, I double checked my chart and the d15 rod- 134 and d16 rod -137, soooo it's 1.59

Okay I called some place called SOKO and they quoted me a price of $455 shipped for a SOHC ZC. I am gonna drop that in and ride it while I build a D15. So please keep this info coming I am jotting this stuff down as we speak. This is really helpful. Thank you I hope this thread stays open for a while and I am able pick you fellas brain just a little bit longer!
i know a bunch of peeps are pimpin' out their d series with a1 pistons, I am, once summer comes around i will have most of my parts to put everything together. I will make one hell of a documentary on it, and you should get some arp rod bolts, nothing like revving to 9k and having a piston go through the hood because the bolts farted on you. BTW, it may be a bit pricey and depending on how you go on this, you should replace all the bearings, I can get hook ups for honda bearings, lemme know if you need something, I can have it shipped out to you, its all at cost. So its hella cheap.
