It's relatively easy
Take off the fork or control arm
There is a pin and 2 or 3 screws
then get the big screw off and that is it
when you can pull the brake setup, the axle should pop off the transmission

first dont do anything untill u have the tools to do this....after ur ready and have jack stands and what not ready....take a 21mm i think and break loose the axle nut...do this while the car is on the ground.....after that is acomplished jack the car up....and set up the jack stands and have the wheel off now of course....now ur gonna need to remove the steering knuckle for best results have a BMFH (big muth F*&*ing hammer) neer by..... take the cotter pins outa the 2 bolts holding the knukle on take off the bottom and the the side bolts the top can stay on if u carefull.....u should be able to pull the axle outa the knuckle and the u can take a flatheaded screwdriver and pop it outa the tranny good luck any more help and we all can help

You don't have to drain the transmission to replace an axel.

No if you have to take the bell housing off the tranny I take it you open the tranny right up and it will pour out. But the hole for the axel is in the middle of the tranny and there isn't that much fluid so it won't pour out.

....well I had to do ome tinkering with my axle Sunday, didn't need to pull it completely out, and tranny fluid was everywhere so....better safe than sorry. Maybe my car is special like that
