when i accelerate to about 2000-3000 rpms, i hear some sort of rattle coming from the engine bay....it sounds like its coming from under the intake manifold.....what is wrong with my car.!!!....could it be my valves??.....please help, i fear that if i let it go untreated, i will ruin my freshly swapped in engine (95 LS in my 92 CX)......

 

does it only happen between 2-3k, or from 2k to redline? will it do it in neutral?

 

it seems to die out after 3k then it seems to just get less loud afterward.....yes it does it in neutral..........whats wrong!!!???

 

it could be your header bracet bolts . mine ratteled at 1500 rpms

 

It could be your catalic convertor or exhaust heat shield. I think my rattles from time to time.

 

if you have a high mile car then check valve spacing too

Do you have an intake? And if so is it a short ram? I had an annoying rattle( at 2000-3000rpms)coming from my engine bay that started when I turned my CAI into a short ram. I made a bracket to hold it in place and vola, the problem was fixed.

 

the engine has about 95000 on it......i think im gonna check anything that my be loose...if that isnt the culprit..off to my mechanic i go

 

I'd say check your cat... My heat shield came lose and made noises at about that RPM and it just bothered the HELL outta me. Finally just replaced the heat shield. But then a rock got stuck in it and I had to dig it out. That was also an annoying rattle.
