OBD1 B16A into OBD0 CRX, How-to?
OK guys, now please no flaming yet. I know there have been TONS of posts about converting OBD0 - OBD1, I know about the conversion harness etc etc, but my post isnt about that. I did a search already, and no luck so thats why I'm posting.
I am planning to buy an OBD1 b16a motor, and have that swaped into my 91 CRX Si. My question is, what do I need to complete this swap. Since the CRX is OBD0, the harnesses obvisouly would not fit, so I know I'll need a whole new OBD1 engine harness. But is that all I have to do? What else is involved in this?
Can I just run the OBD1 wiring harness to the OBD1 ECU, then to the motor? or is there more involved? Please help!!!

u could use the OBD0 harness and make a jumper harness to the OBD1 ECU and modify the distributor end of the harness to fit the OBD1 as well. That might be a little cheaper?
thats the way i went....i have a OBD1 D16y7/8 in my OBD0 crx

i dont know how familiar you are with the B16A2, but the tranny has a hydraulic clutch which wouldnt be compatible with your current cable setup on the crx. is there any specific reason you want to get the A2? i hope you're not doing it for that supposed "10 extra hp"
anyways i thought i'd mention that in case you hadnt realized the difference in trannies. then again, you could always bolt up any other b-series cable driven tranny.

hey man, i think the way to go is to convert your motor down to obd-0. all you need is an 0bd-0 distributor and injectors. it would probably make the entire wiring process go a little quicker. good luck.

you have to decide whether you want your car to be obd0 or obd1.
if you want it to stay obd0 but still be able to use a obd1 motor, you will have to use a obd0 ecu, obd0 injectors, obd0 distributor, and injector resistor box. you'll have to use your obd0 harness on the motor and splice in obd1 plugs where necessary. you'll have to add wiring for vtec and knock and 4-wire o2.
if you want to be obd1, then you will just keep the obd1 injectors, and distributor. you will still use your obd0 harness on the motor and splice in obd1 plugs where necessary. you will need to wire up vtec, knock, 4-wire o2, etc... then you will need to use a obd0 --> obd1 ecu jumper harness and your obd1 ecu will plug right in.
good luck.

Hahah, actually 170hp is ONE of the reasons why I choose to go OBD1, but the main reason is Hondata. The OBD1 B16A I am purchasing is coming out of a 92-93 J-Spec Integra XSi, which has cable trans.

I want to keep OBD1 setup in the CRX, but I just dont know what is involved. OBD1 ECU, OBD1 engine harness, and OBD1 motor......simple as that rite? or is there more to it? I know alot about wiring, but I prefer to do as least rewiring as possible, thats why I'm thinking about just getting a OBD1 wiring harness from a 92-93 Integra GSR B17A.
use the OBD1 engine, ecu, distributor, injuctors, and o2. you should use your original wiring harness that is aleady on your car and modify it by adding certain OBD1 plugs to it. you will also need an OBD conversion harness. I sell them check my signature.
