Default 2 conversion questions

1. How do you convert spring rates from "k" to lbs? My spring rates are 7k and 5k I think, and I was just wondering how to convert it to lbs measurement, if it can even be done. Seems like 5k would be 5000, which would be the spring constant K, or am I completely off?

2. If Honda is Japanese and measures in mm and Nissin is too, why is the bore of our master cylinders measured in parts of an inch?

I thought K denotes 1000 lbs. example: 7k = 7000lbs maybe i'm wrong though!

No, I know that's not right. I think 8k is supposed to be like 450lbs. or something. I just don't know how to convert it.

Thanks a lot, it's easy now that I know the units.

Anyone wanna answer the second question?

Because this is America and we speak of such matters in the standard way rather than metric. I'm sure in Japan they say 18mm instead of 7/8ths inch or whatever conversions are required.

I doubt it. Some of our cars were built in America, but you don't see them using standard nuts and bolts to put them together, do you?
