Honda Experts - Swap Problem:Heat Doesn't Work
Last week I finished up the swap of a B16A2 into my 96' Civic Coupe, I've got most of the problems sorted out. The only code I have is for my 2nd 02 Sensor which isn't currently plugged up.
My main problem is the heat doesn't work, and it's like 30 degrees outside, so it sucks. The lines going to and from the heater core are hooked up properly and are warm. When you move the Hot/Cold selector inside the car you can see the cable moving, modulating the valve. I have also checked the fuses for the heater in car and in the engine bay.
I have had many experienced Honda friends look at it and they are stumped. I was playing with it for a while tonight and when I first turned on the heat after the car had been idling for a while, the air was warm for a few seconds. Can anyone give me any ideas?
Thanks

you might want to check your thermostat, check to make sure you radiator is full etc etc , my friends car is like taht, blows out warm air after idle but once you drive it aroudn it gets cold, its cuz his thermostat is stuck open
is your car overheating? Did you get your hoses backwards? check all the connections for the engine harness on the head and thermo. What is your mixture for coolant and water?

And the few seconds that I got heat was a one time thing tonight...it has been the only time it's done it so far.

I will check the engine harness connections in the morning but I'm almost positive they are all hooked up correctly.

Assuming that the heat was working properly before the swap, I would check to make sure that you don't have some kind of blockage at the heater bypass valve. It's possible that it may have become contaminated during the swap. Also check that bothe the hose going into the heater core and the one coming out are warm after the car has reached operating temperature. good luck
I would say definetly check the thermostat and if you have enough coolant. I had to replace the thermostat in my winter beater 2 weeks ago because it had no heat. I also had the same prob all fuses checked out to be ok. good luck
