my car sucks!!
coogster, thanks for the help.just wodering what kind of resedue i should look for? i have no cat and a straight through exhuast, my tip is all black and gold from the heat so i cant really tell what to look for. but it i little blue smoke comes out from the muffler every time i start it up.not to mention its been below 0 here almost everyday and the car sits all day till al go to work.
from what i know (which is limited) blue smoke is a sign of burnign oil...but if it s mad cold, it could just be condensation that looks like blue smoke....you can smell it...but thats prolly bad for you.
You could try what Ive been told to do when checking for a burnt valve. Take a white piece of paper and hold it over the end of your exhaust with the car running, when you pull it off, it should still be white. If not, your burning something. This is what I've been told, I could very easily be wrong and I'm sure I'll find out soon.
it soudns like your burning oil, it's probably because as your car warms up your pistons gradually inflate to seal compression along with the rings, when cold they do alow some blow by, so as long as it's not doing it when your driving it hard you should be fine
start by replacing spark plug seals underneath the valve cover. If that doesn't stop it do a compression test. also before you start your car in the morning pull the spark plug wires and check to see if they are covered with oil. I have the same problem so when i figure out what is up with my 90 lx i will let you know.
